Has anyone ever had a close to normal period and still been pregnate?

Yes, this happens. Some women get their period all through pregnancy.

You don't actually "have a period" when you are pregnant. Some women mistake implantation bleeding to be a period. It would be impossible to still have a period while being pregnant though.
