a Lifetime of Painful Stomach Aches. Please Help
Posted: 01-12-06 20:34pm

Hello, i'm a 19 year old with a strange problem. Ever since I can remember i've suffered from stomach pains (bad ones), and a wide variety. Dull, sharp, squeezing, painful, burning, active, and I don't know why. It seems most of the time food triggers it.

I had colic when I was a baby, and i'm told that could be a part of it.

A brief history:

these stomach pains seem to come and go in spurts. They can lay off for a week or three, then come for the same amount of time. Often occurring 4 times a week

i went to nanny for a bit and before I left stomach pains were a natural part of my life. Then after I left they seemed to subside. My stomach still got irritated 3 or 4 times.

Now, if it's stress this seems strange to me as my nanny time was one of the most stressful and worrisome times of my life.

When I returned home my stomach pains seemed to return immediately.

My doctor said I had ibs. I tried the diet and so forth and seemed to do well, but did not stop the pain.

I’ve tried many prescriptions.

Then I tried the celiac diet. I still had pains.

Now I am experiencing anxiety and worry. My stomach pains are hard to handle and at times I cannot even eat because any food will upset my stomach. I cannot even drink water well because waters seems to hurt my stomach immensely.

I want some opinions before I go to the doctor, because for every one i've been to they've seemed to wave it off, and no farther help is offered. What can I do?

The pain is scaring me, and i'm losing so much weight and i'm afraid i’ll get to the point of starvation (not by choice).

Any advice would be gladly taken.

My son is in continual pain with his stomach but the best doctors in toronto cannot find any physical cause.Has anyone got any ideas what could be the problem? Although he has a stressful job no medication seems to affect the problem at all.
