Q: Getting Pregnant Question
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 12th, 2006
Ive always had long cycles until the fall of 2004 they finally started leveling out. I got pregnany in Sept. 04, and miscarried Nov. 04. After my miscarriage my cycles became all crazy again. Finally in Sept., and Oct. 05 I had two normal cycles again. My last period started Oct. 31, 2005 and ended on Nov. 4, 2005. Im now on the 74th day of my cycle. I started spotting Jan. 7th, but it stopped on the 8th.
Was that my period?? What could be wrong with me? Why have I always had such long cycles?

Getting Pregnant Answer A138
It is difficult identify vaginal spotting as caused by your period, or not. However, you seem to exhibit signs menorrhea, or infrequent menstruation, and long menstrual cycles. Menorrhea can be the result of a disorder of either the axis hypothalamus, the pituitary gland, or the ovaries. Diagnostically, your doctor or gynecologist can check your blood levels for FSH, LH, estrogen, progesterone and prolactin in order to determine the source of spotting. Further, an ultrasound examination of the uterus and ovaries can be requested to verify the health of your reproductive organs. You can visit your family doctor or a gynecologist in order to follow up and request the diagnostic exams
