I know everyone is different and what works for 1 may not work for everyone, but what bc do you feel is best to prevent pregnancy with minimal side effects?? In the past i've been on the pill (hate taking them everyday and had headaches), norplant (spotted alot), and depro provera (i don't remember serious problems, but I don't really wanna go that route again ).... I considered the patch, but heard of side effects... Bf and I are adamant on not having any more kids so we need something that is as close to 100% as possible...(abstinance is out of the question too...Hahaha) i'm afraid that i'll have to go back to the pill and headaches... :( what the heck is yasmin??

How about an iud? I've never had one, but i've heard they're highly effective and safe, especially if you've had a baby. My sister has one and i've never heard her complain about it. And they make one without hormones if you're worried about those side effects.

Yasmin is a type of birth control pill. I've never taken it, so I can't offer an opinion, but i've heard great things as well as horrible things about it.

Besides the iud, you might consider using a barrier method with spermicide like lea's shield or a cervical cap with contraceptive jelly, or a contraceptive sponge. These methods are about 90% effective, not close to 100%. My wife can't use hormonal methods (and doesn't trust them), so her doctor suggested the paragard iud. She didn't like the idea of the doctor inserting anything into her uterus, and she might want to get pregnant again (she's 42), so she decided to stay with spermicides and the sponge.

I am 24 and happily using my paragard iud! It does not affcet furture fertility, and you do not have to have children to have it inserted, you just gotta find the right doctor!=)

I had the most side affects on yasmin. Www.Worstpills.Org has yasmin listed as one of them because it says that no birth control should have the amount of hormones that it does or something of the like. After my 8 months of hell I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. It almost cost me my life (suicidal tendancies) and my relationship.

I have the contraceptive implant in my arm (implanon).

It lasts three years and the only side effect I have suffered is irregular periods for a while at the begining. It says its 99% effective and i've been having unprotected sex with my long term boyfriend for the time i've had it in (2 1/2 years) and have been completely safe.

Nothing to remember or take, you can just forget about it for three years!!! Which is perfect for someone as forgetful as me!!!

Hope this helps.

:)

i don't think thats its fair that you say someone shouldn't use it just beucase how your body reacted to it. I have been on yasmin for over 3 yrs, and the only side effect I have is that sometimes i'm not interested in sex. But this is a mind over matter thing. I think that if you had a bad exp, you should share it, but its someones desicion to do what htey want to..Not yours. I found that using the patch was useless. The pill is great, and I was put onto yasmin for my b/c needs by my gynocologist. I have never gained an ounce of weight, changed my mood or my body at all. You might want to keep your opinions to yourself, but offer information based on your expierence...Tahts not fair to the girl who wants to know whats out there.

she asked "what the heck is yasmin?"

to me that is what it was. Every birth control works differently for everyone, but considering I have *factual* proof both website based and personal based, I am able to give my opinion to whoever wants to listen to it. I am not forcing anyone to not use it, I haven't taken away any prescriptions, but I clearly stated that I would not recommend it to anyone, and feel there are many other better birth control pills out there. Good for you if you've been fine on it, but that is *also* your opinion and it's *also* not fair to the girls who want to know what is out there.

"you might want to keep your opinions to yourself, but offer information based on your expierence..."

oh, and also, this is a total contradiction.
