I have been to many hospitals and psychs and have been diagnosed with 6 different psychological illnesses in about 5 months by 6 different psychciatrists.
It seems no one knows what they are doing in psychiatry and I am being flung from person to person.
I was diagnosed with schizophrenia, then recently a new psych said she is certain I do not have schizophrenia and I have just 'been through too much'. She has advised me to not take any medications and my antipsychotics have been taken away and thrown out by a family member (as they were advised by her to do.)
i don't know what to do anymore. As soon as I look into what I supposedly have and what foods and vitamins are good to have, I am told by another psych I have something else.
I am so sick of this..Can anyone relate? Why is this happening? I am starting to think all psychiatry is a scam...

Psychiatry is not science! Schizophrenia is a scam for drug manufactures to get rich. The drugs are far worse(dangerous) than good. The drugs only mask the problem but it is dangerous in the long run. It can prohibit recovery.Schizophrenia is really a healing process of the brain. Anybody can hallucinate. Those that have less hallucinations will recover faster. This is without meds.

Take vitamins, flaxseed oil, binkgo b. They are nutrients good for the brain. Also excercise.

Schizo
Schizophrenia is an illness which does not go away through willpower. It is not a scam and is very serious. The problem is that mental illness is not an exact science. I understand what you say that doctors are not very conclusive. I have been told that I am bipolar, depressed, borderline, and even schizoaffective. I will not tell you that you should or should not take meds, but for many it is the only thing that allows someone to be functional or even alive. Also- not to say that other treatments are helpful (with or without meds). Mental illness is serious. I think that too many people are perscribed meds now a day. I person is sad for a week and the doctor thinks they need meds for the rest of their life! But sometimes people are sick and do need meds.
Talk to a professional.
Hope you start feeling better and get the help you need. Keep me posted.
