My Doctor called me yesterday and told me that they found a 15mm nodule on my upper left lung. I go for a CT Scan on Wednesday. I am very worried that it may be cancer. All that I've read says that it most likely is cancer. I also have Rheumtoid Arthritis and wonder if that has anything to do with the nodule??? Has anyone else experienced the samething????

hI,
i READ THE 1ST NOTE THAT WAS ON THIS SITE, THINKING i WAS HEADING TO A SITE WITH INFORMATION AS TO WHY i HAVE 3 NODULES ON THE LUNG,3CMS BIG. OOPS SORRY CAPS,I was looking for answers, thought I might find them here. I'm not scared with what I might have, but I really would like some answersI really thought I could find a site to answer my questions as to why I have "Atrial Flutter" along with "Emphysema" and an "enlarged heart" plus the latest is "nodules on the lungs". I really am sorry you guys have so many unsolved problems like me, but I am going to keep looking, because when I go to my dr's and specialists, they just confuse me so much with there huge wording to a disease, it makes me feel illiterate, like why would I know about all those huge words they keep coming out with? I would have become a doctor if I wanted to know all those words that I have never heard before. Anyway, God Bless You All, that are searching for answers just like I am. Isn't it ashame that we can't understand our specialists and are to scared to ask in case we look like idiots.
Try to live long and stay as young as you can, for yours and our childrens sake.
Regards Lorraine

Hi, went to ER due to feeling sick. Thinking maybe UTI and/ or flu. Cat scan on stomach caught tip of heart and showed fluid. So Dr. wanted to do a CT scan on heart..all these was end of October. ER doctor told me I could leave because the fluid around heart wasn't too much but to follow-up w/ Dr. and have them fax ER records to them.
When I met with my Doctor they said I had to have Ultrasound on heart and then told me that when ER did scan on my heart it showed lungs and they found several nodules and masses on both lungs. Having to wait 4 weeks to have a chest Xray now so it can be compared.
Am sick with worry and fear due to this. I'm a mother of one and my daugther just told me she's pregnant.
I'm so happy about being a Grandma but sad about this other because if these nodules are cancer there are many.
What if I'm sitting here now with it and they just don't know it yet. It's hard to enjoy anything now. I just feel sad. I have no idea how advanced it is if it is Cancer.
Anyway, all I can do is cry. It's an emotional time being the Holiday's and knowing that my only child is pregnant and will need me but that maybe I'm sick.
What would cause several nodules and masses in both lungs besides cancer? I've always smoked.
Thanks.
Very Sad.

Be strong I have 2 kids and 2 grandkids and I want time with them not to be cut short. Stop smoking even at this stage it could help. I dont know what causes it, it could be a lot of things talk to your dr. I wish you the very best my prayers are with you.

Wait and see what the new test show. All could be okay. I have scaring (or masses) on my lungs for over twenty years. They will just check to see how fast they grow. Just keep on top of it. And take care of yourself. Jack

Lung Nodules
Thank you all for your posts...Aug 09 I went in for stomach pain, the did a chest x-ray and never said a thing again. Then Labor Day they call and tell me I need a CT scan ASAP. I go in for scan and three days later they tell me I have 2 nodules, 1 on each lung. Left lung has a 4mm nodule and the right has a 12mm nodule. I was sent to a pulmonologist and that was a JOKE...said nothing to worry about, I just want to test you for sleep apnea. Study showed I slept for 7.5 hours with 96% affective sleep...the told me I have SLEEP APNEA! Started having breathing problems, went to ER and they did another CT scan and nodule on the right lung is now 15mm. Went to my regular doctor, and because I wouldn't follow the pulmonologist's request to continue using the sleep apnea machine that I was shamed into trying, that he didn't want to be my doctor, since I wouldn't follow doctors orders. Now I don't know what to do...I live in a VERY small community and doctors are hard to get! Most aren't taking new patients.

What state do you live in? If it was me I would go to one of the big hospitals like Mayo, etc. You need to get those nodules checked out. You should be seen in the Oncology department. They know what to do and will help you the most. All may be okay but get checked out ASAP. Good luck. Jack

Went to ER at beginning of the year with severe pain that turned out to be a kidney stone. The doctor came in and told me that the CAT scan and xrays showed signs of pulmonary nodules and I needed to get follow up medical care. Unfortunately I have no insurance and two weeks later was laid off from my job. I applied for Medicaid and they turned me down. So now I'm out of work, saddled with ER debt and am facing medical problems that may or may not be serious , but can't afford to find out. I have not had insurance for ten years so I guess I will have to resort to keeping my fingers crossed and hope its nothing.

Valley Fever
I'm 30 years old with a 4 & 6 year old-just diagnosed with severe coccidiomycosis(valley fever)I have an uncountable amount of nodules in both lungs and an 1 L shaped cavitary lesion(Hole) 23mm by 27mm and another 22mm hole in the upper part of my right lung. After 6 days on IV diflucan with horrible side affects found out I'm no longer responding to the oral meds. They have to increase my dose and if I dont respond then its IV infussions. If the holes do not go down in size with the medication then they want to do a biopsy. I am scarred out of my mind. Cant eat, sleep or even think about anything else. I'm really scared.

Could the doctor have read the X-ray backwards?
I know how you feel. I, too, am sick an scared after my primary doctor told me I have a mass on my right lung. Then he left the room leaving me to imagine the worst. I insisted that he come back and answer my questions. He said he doesn't know what the mass is.

In the spring of 2010, a scan revealed a 6 MM nodule on my left lung. Now the new doctor said he sees nothing on the left. The mass is on the right. Could he be reading the X-ray backwards?

I'm waiting for another CT scan, worrying while I'm waiting. I would say to everyone who is in the same situation, to get the nodules tested. It's better to know early than too late. Not all nodules are cancerous. I'm praying that mine aren't and will say a prayer for others on this site.

God bless!

I hate to hear that so many people on here are going through the same thing that I am now going through!!! I have had pneumonia 5X's in 9 months...ER doctor finally ordered a CT scan on the 5th time. 3 nodules showed up, from 5mm up to 12mm. Went to specialist and he ordered a PET. Did that the day before yesterday, it came back with ground glass quality on CT, which is a feature that lowers the accuracy of PET in discriminating between benign and malignant. Suggest a biopsy be performed. My specialist says that he would rather wait 2-3 months and repeat CT scan....What? Why? I'm going for a 2nd opinion in 2 wks. My prayers go out to everyone on this site. It is horrible when the medical field leaves you with more questions than answers. Good luck to all and God Bless

I went to the ER last week because of a kidney stone and during the CT scan of my kidneys they found a nodule on my left lung. My Dr sent me for another CT scan after I had the stone removed and they found a total of 5 nodules. 2 on my right lung and 3 on my left. He is setting up an appointment with a lung Dr next week. They are concerned because I had been a smoker for many years and have had several CT scans, x rays etc due to my kidney problems. I just got married in February, and we have 5 kids between us. I am scared to death! I am 40 yrs old and have had health problems my whole life-but this has me more scared than Ive ever been before. My Dr says we just have to wait and see....
