Q: Infertility Question
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 6th, 2006
I went to the doctors today because i have been off the pill since june 2004 and i still havent got pregnant,i have had three pregnancys one in 1998 which i miscarried and had to have a DNC because i have got O neg blood and my husband O pos, which lesd to me having lost the baby.
I started trying for a baby straight away but didnt become pregnant till august 1999 having my son may 2000,later having my second son in june 2002 having no problems,i then had an laparosopie in oct 2003 because of suspected endometreosis which i didnt have so that was a waste of time i also have been told i have perinisus anemia and had to have six injections within 2 weeks because my body really needed a boost of vitmin b12 and was told i have to have one injection every 3 months for the rest of my life that was in 2002 but having been back to the doctors countless time and having given blood every couple of months i have never had one since. B ut after talking to the doctor about not becoming pregnant she seemed to think it was because of my anemia and taken yet more blood but i dont understand why i would,nt get pregnant because of my perinisus anemia?? does this mean i cant ever get pregnant again???

Infertility Answer A140
If your pernicious anemia is under control (by taking Vitamin B12 regularly), it doesn't appear that anemia is causing infertility. You shouldn’t try to become pregnant, however, until your blood exams become normal (and the anemia is under control). If you do become pregnant, you will probably experience difficulties bringing the fetus to term. To identify the reason(s) for your infertility, you may need to take several gynecological examinations: a colposcopy, Pap-smear, vaginal smear, a serology to detect possible STD(s), an ultrasound of the uterus and ovaries, hormonal analyses (FSH, LH, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, prolactin, thyroxin), a HCG, and a laparoscopy will probably together help you and your gynecologist understand what is causing infertility.

nfertility is defined as not being able to get pregnant after at least one year of trying. Women who are able to get pregnant but then have repeat miscarriages are also said to be infertile. No, infertility is not always a woman's problem. In only about one-third of cases is infertility due to the woman. In another one third of cases, infertility is due to the man. The remaining cases are caused by a mixture of male and female factors or by unknown factors.

Trying to have a baby
Hi, my boyfriend and I have been trying to have a baby for about 5 months and we've had no success. The question is obviously, could my boyfriend be sterile? I've been pregnant three times before, but had three abortions. There were all medical abortions where you insert the pills into your vagina. He also told me of an even were he was bitten by a spider between his anus and his scrotum about 6 years ago. He said it was swollen and he couldn't walk right for a while. Could that make him sterile? Or maybe could the fact that I've had three abortions make me sterile? Also, I have the HPV virus, I haven't been to a gynocologist in a couple years, I was just wondering if any of these things are possibilities.
