Q: Itching Arms & Legs

A month ago I developed a red rash just on my arms and legs. It was red and angry and itched like mad. Had anithistimine direct into vein and a massive dose daily by tablet. Steroids for a week cured the rash but my arms and legs are driving me insane with the itching. Doctor is referring me to a dermatologist and I have been taking hrt for a week in the hope, if it is menopausal, this will sort it out. Much more of it, lack of sleep etc. I will jump off a cliff. Any suggestions?

I use lutein -- it is for the eyes, but also helps with itching.

I recommend taking the lutein every day. I itched so bad -- it's called 'phantom itching' by the way, that my skin was constantly red. But within two days of starting the lutein, the itching started to go away. For good!

Menopause And Itching
I am martina, I have had itching all over for over two years I too wanted to jump off a building, I went to allergist, gynecoloist, dermatologist, no one could help me, it was an itching within so it was not visible any rash I tried everything on the market for itching, even anxitiey pill, I did research on my own, and went and had accupunture, like 5 visits, prayed a lot stopped all hormone pills and finally I have been itch free since march. It had all started when I started hormone pills I even switch to natural hormones which are very expensive, well im not taking anything for my menopause and I feel wonderful. Also omega with fish oil is very good I started taking that because the accupuncturist reccomend it, because you itch because our skin gets very dry. Now a lot of women are lucky and have no itching, but a small percentage do. Thats why when you talk to doctors they don't know. I learned this on my own by doing research on internet and thru different accupunturis.
Hope I can help anyone out their.

There are many things that can cause you to itch. I recommend seeing a doc for a dx first before self-remedying. :?

See my post above on yeast. I chased an itchy rash around for about two years and about fourteen specialists before I found it was related to gluten sensitivity through reading on the internet. I've given up most breads and cereals and found that takes care of it.

Surgical menopause and hormones and itching
I had a total hysterectomy on July 8 2009. I started on Climarin 100 patches three weeks ago. A couple days ago, I started getting uncontrollable itchiness, which is worse at night. Its driving me nuts, and I don't know whether its the patches or whether I need progesterone or something - or what?
