Hey ladies! I just started birth control pills (the mini pill) three days ago and I was wondering how long I should take it before my husband and I start having unprotected sex. I read all of the information on it but I can't find anyting that tells me how long I should wait. Strange huh? I just wanted to know if any of you could tell me in general how long you should take the pill before havig unprotected sex.

God please and thanks,
teresa

Did u start it on the first day of ur period? Cos if u did then additional methods of contraception arent needed (this is what it says on my leaflet. Im taking cerazette) if u didnt take it on first day... From the 2nd day onwards wait or use an additional method for 7 days

Hey pinkcat! I started the pill on the sunday of my period. My period started on friday and I took the first pill on the following sunday. So, does that mean that I should wait a week (7days) before having un-protected sex? So 7 pills? I'm sorry about all of the silly questions, it's just that my husband and I are not ready for another baby anytime soon. Thank you so much for replying!

God bless and good luck,
teresa

I would wait at least a week, if not two.
