I think it does seem likely that I will
ask to be referred to a urologist next
time I see my doctor (which is next week
in any case). At the moment I am trying to
dry out the red inflammation that I have
near the ridge of where the bottom of the
glans meets the foreskin. This is
apparently not the "normal rubbing" that I
used to think it is but apparently a whole
medical condition caused by a yeast
infection and is called balanitis. I have
to hold out the foreskin down to dry out
the area but I can feel my frenulum
protesting at the tension as I do it.
If you are wondering why the hell I am
drying it out, I got the instructions
here:

From everything I've heard, it sounds

I just got a referral from my GP but it
will be done privately through
insurance... The GP didn't have any
problem, but then he wouldn't be too
worried since it's not NHS.
There's a good article that was published
in the Guardian (htt
p://www.guardian.co.uk/health/story/0,3605
,659196,00.html), the guy had one done
and describes how it all went. He did it
privately as he couldn't wait. I'm having
the same urologist at the beginning of
June, let's see how it all goes - I find
it a bit scary!

I went to the docters about 1 month ago
about my tight foresking and frenelum
breve and he referred me to a urologist
and I go to see the urologist next week.
Is the urologist likely to do anything
about my condition next week or will they
just check it out and book me another
apointment if necersarry. I'm not sure if
they will do anything to the foreskin but
the frenulum breve is one for them to look
at for sure as maybe once the frenulum is
gone my foreskin may loosen up over time.

Well, I guess that depends on the
urologist. I know mine will do it the
first time I go if confirmed, but then
he's seen a picture and has had an idea...
I was quite surprised to hear they could
do all in one go, I guess it's a sign it's
not a complicated procedure.

I'd like to just say that the whole 'rip
your frenulum and it'll regenerate back to
its initial state' is a bunch of bollocks,
i've ripped mine myself a little bit and
each time it just heals and there's a
bigger and bigger gap/cavity there, i hope
that eventually i'll be able to pull down
the foreskin all the way. Funny thing is,
i asked my GF to do this for me (so it
would feel more normal for me) with both
her vagina (rough and fast sex) or just
pulling down with her hands but none
worked at all...and she pulled down alot
harder than i do..

Frenoplasty Posted: 09-05-07 11:36am
Hi All,
Have been reading other comments, my
frenulum initially ripped over a year ago
(rough sex blood everywhere ) but
i must say as i decided to put this off
and not go to my GP (stupid male pride)
this was definatley the wrong idea.
I left it for a month my g/f was very
supportive (once i told her, she knew
somthing was up or down hahah)
After a short break from sex we decided to
give it a go, as first no probs but
eventually it ripped again, not as much
blood thou, after this time she told me to
get it seen too, but i didn't straight
away i left it again, now i have found out
that this is probably the worst thing you
can do as everytime it healed it was scar
tissue which is not a flexible as normal
tissue and it breaks very easily.
So if you think you've got a problem just
go to the docs (you'll get over the
embarrisment) it was a huge weight off my
shoulders i got my appointment with the
specialist in early October, im a bit
worried but i only wished i had swallowed
my pride and gone earlier.
I'll let you know how i get on,
Here's to the future and painfree sex
(eventually) i hope

Don't be ashamed of it! I know it's not so
easy telling this to your parents, but
it's best to take care of this asap!
You'll be happy you did later

The return of the Frenulum Breve Posted: 09-15-08 12:40pm
Hey guys,
Thank god for the internet; I finally know
what's wrong with my penis. So, My
'banjo' is tight and for years I was not
able to pull my foreskin over the little
head. However, over the last two months,
twice while I was having sex with this
girl, because she was not so wet, the
harshness of the vagina against my penis
rolled the tight foreskin hole over my
penis. The first time was a month and a
half ago, and within minutes, the foreskin
automatically rolled back covering my
naked penis.
However, last night when I had sex the
same thing happened, yet this time, my
foreskin did not automatically roll over
the head. It's actually stopped half way.
I am trying to gently nudge and squeeze
the rest of my little head into the
foreskin, but I have had no luck for the
last 24 hours.
There is no blood whatsoever, and blood
has never come out, nothing's ripped. But
right now, my tight foreskin is squeezing
half of the head of my penis and it's damn
uncomfortable.
I was hoping someone could give me some
tips as to how to alleviate the situation
and help me get the foreskin either to
fully cover the head or pull it over.
Now, it's seriously stuck halfway and is
squeezing the head.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Apologies for the length of this post, but
I'm kinda suffering right now.

SKIN STRETCHING AS A CURE FOR PHIMOSIS
INTRODUCTION
Many young men come to internet sites
seeking help for tight foreskin problems.
Often doctors have told them that they
“must” be circumcised. There are other
ways of dealing with this problem and
circumcision should only be used as a last
resort in a very small number of cases,
not as a first option treatment. I and
others, on various health boards have
guided many young men to a cure using
simple stretching exercises.
Stretching will usually cure the problem
in a shorter time than it would take to
fully recover from a circumcision. It
leaves the patient with their entire
penis, preserving about 15 square inches
of elastic, nerve-rich, erogenous tissue
and of course, saves the patient from the
pain and discomfort of surgery. The
foreskin has a unique gliding action used
by most males to masturbate with and its
lubricating action has been claimed to
make sex smoother and more enjoyable for
female partners too. The foreskin is worth
preserving. If stretching should fail a
dorsal slit (though not very cosmetic),
frenuloplasty, removal of just the tight
band or a circumcision can be done at any
time. Should stretching not work all that
is lost is a little time and effort. If
the stretching is done properly and
regularly and not too fast then most men
seem to succeed.
DISCLAIMER
I am not a doctor and these notes are here
only as a peer-support guide. This
information is in no way intended to
replace necessary consultations with a
qualified medical practitioner. Should you
experience any painful problems consult a
foreskin-friendly doctor. Should your
foreskin get stuck behind the glans when
you are erect and you are unable to move
it forward, as in the Paraphimosis section
below, seek immediate medical aid.
ANATOMY
The penis has a number of structures that
you should know about before you start.
The head of the penis is called the glans.
The groove round the edge of the glans is
called the sulcus. The foreskin is also
called the prepuce. It is attached under
the pee hole or meatus by a y-shaped piece
of skin called the fraenulum or frenulum
(US spelling). The fraenulum is similar in
structure to the one under the tongue and
has an important sexual function. The
fraenular band is the tight bit at the
foreskin opening that is being stretched
in this case. There are plenty of web
pages that explain penile anatomy.
PHIMOSIS
Phimosis or tight foreskin may be mild or
severe. Some men can retract their
foreskin easily when their penis is
flaccid (soft) but experience difficulty
when erect. Others describe “pin hole
phimosis” where the opening is so tight
that they can only see a tiny bit of their
glans even when they pull back their
foreskin as far as they can.
Stretching has been used to cure even
severe phimosis.
TIGHTENING AND/OR TEARS DEVELOPING IN A
PREVIOUSLY NORMAL FORESKIN
Most Phimosis is something that the male
has lived with since birth and this is the
sort that these instructions were designed
for. When a foreskin suddenly tightens up
or starts to develop tears easily the
usual culprit is a yeast or fungal
infection. These sorts of infections can
be caught from normal living but can also
be passed on sexually. Therefore sexual
partners should be treated too and condoms
should be worn to prevent cross infection,
until both partners are clear. These
infections can usually be treated with
pharmacy over-the-counter creams and
sometimes an oral pill as well. The creams
are designed for women's genitals and so
are safe on male genitals too.
DO NOT attempt to stretch if you have a
thrush (yeast) or fungal infection. The
tears that develop can cause scar tissue
to form and may cause permanent damage
that makes stretching extremely difficult.
If scar tissue has formed then
Betamethasone is fairly necessary if any
stretching is to succeed.
Recurrent yeast infections may sometimes
be related to diabetes.
WHY BOTHER TO STRETCH
Although some men manage to have
reasonably normal sex lives with phimosis
there are some disadvantages to having a
non-retractable foreskin.
Firstly it is hard to clean and may smell.
The body produces a natural, white, cheesy
substance called smegma that collects
under the foreskin and in the folds of
female genitalia. Smegma is a natural
lubricant and usually does no harm. But it
is susceptible to infections that can
cause pain and/or odours. This can be a
real turn off for a sexual partner.
Infections can also cause pain and
eventually scarring of the foreskin.
Secondly having sex with the foreskin
forward reduces sexual sensations,
especially when wearing a condom as well.
Thirdly many men with tight foreskins
complain that sex without a condom is
painful as the foreskin may be forced back
during sex causing painful over-stretching
of the foreskin opening.
BETAMETHASONE
You can ask your doctor to prescribe
Betamethasone 0.1% or 0.05% ointment. A
tiny amount of this ointment can be
applied to the tight part of the foreskin,
ie. the opening of the foreskin when it is
in the forward position. It will speed up
the stretching process but won’t do
anything on its own, without the
stretching exercises. Stretching will
still work without the ointment, just more
slowly.
STRETCHING TECHNIQUE ONE
If the foreskin is very tight the simplest
method is to pull back on the skin
(easiest with an erection) so that the
opening feels tight and a bit
uncomfortable without real pain. Hold that
for a few minutes and repeat a few times.
Do this a couple of times a day. You will
find that soaking in a warm bath will make
the skin softer and easier to stretch.
The major disadvantage with this method
occurs when some stretching has been
achieved or if the phimosis was mild to
begin with. Once the opening is big enough
to just fit over the rim of the glans when
erect the foreskin is at risk of getting
stuck behind it. If this happens a
condition know as paraphimosis may
develop.
This is why stretching technique two is
probably better once the foreskin opening
is big enough to make it almost possible
to slide the foreskin back over the
glans.
PROBLEMS?
If the opening becomes sore, or develops
splits, stop for a few days and let things
heal up. Going at it too fast will only
slow things down in the end. Sometimes
splits and tightness are due to a fungal
or yeast (thrush) infection. Treatment
with an antifungal / anti-yeast cream
designed for women’s genitals will
usually fix this problem. I’ve also seen
reports of success with a Hydrocortisone /
anti-fungicide mix like “Fungocort”.
PARAPHIMOSIS
Paraphimosis occurs when the foreskin gets
stuck behind the glans of an erect penis,
trapping the blood that causes the
erection in the glans and causing swelling
of the foreskin itself. If the foreskin
becomes stuck squeeze the head of the
penis firmly to force the blood out and
try and ease the foreskin forward. Perhaps
soaking in the bath or using an oil-based
lotion will make this easier. If after
many tries you still can’t do this see a
doctor or go to a hospital emergency room
fast. This is not a common problem but you
should be warned of the danger.
STRETCHING TECHNIQUE TWO
The second stretching technique can be
best illustrated by this photograph. You
can either grab each side of the foreskin
opening and gently pull on each side of
the opening, suckers in the photograph or,
even better, insert the ends of two
fingers, even the little fingers and pull
them gently apart. Stretch the opening in
this way until it feels uncomfortably
stretched but not actually painful. Hold
and repeat as for method one. Once again
this is best done after soaking in a warm
bath.
SENSITIVITY
As you stretch and are able to expose more
of the glans you may find that it is very
sensitive or even painful to touch. You
will find it less painful the more you
expose and use it and gradually the
over-sensitivity will lessen, until all
you feel is pleasure. A gentle way to
start touching the head is by using the
shower spray. Also use water-based
lubricant when touching the head directly
and this should be more comfortable.
SMEGMA BUILD UP
As you stretch and are able to expose more
of the head you may discover a build up of
smegma. This may even contain hard lumps
that are hard to remove. Soften them with
a light vegetable oil or a non-scented,
oily cream such as sorbolene or vitamin E
cream. The smegma and softening agent can
then be removed with a mild non-scented
soap followed by a thorough rinse with
plain water. A number of applications over
a period of time may be necessary before
the build up is cleaned away. Once it is
then simple rinsing with plain water every
day is enough to keep most penises clean
and fresh. Some men can use soap daily but
others find it upsets the natural balance
and can actually cause infections or
irritation.
ANOTHER TECHNIQUE
Another technique that some people have
used successfully involves inserting a
SMOOTH cylindrical object into the
opening, just large enough to stretch
without pain and leaving it in there
throughout the day and/or night. As the
opening stretches you swap the object for
ones of increased diameter. It's a very
efficient way of stretching but many guys
say it is too uncomfortable on their
sensitive glans so I rarely recommend it
nowadays. Objects I have seen posts about
using are bits of dowel of increasing
diameters, sanded smooth and plastic
objects such as pen tops, ending up with a
35mm film canister with the bottom cut out
and smoothed off. With the last you can
apparently wear it all day and even pee
through it. I would have the cut edge
facing outwards. This method may sound
strange but as long as the objects are
smooth and not too big you can't do much
harm to yourself and it has the advantage
of stretching all the time. You may need
to hold them in place with surgical tape.
TIGHT FRAENULUM
Sometimes the cause of difficulty in
retracting the foreskin is not a tight
foreskin opening but a short fraenulum
(frenulum), also known as fraenulum breve.
This can also be stretched though it is
sometimes more difficult to do this. You
can grab the underside of the foreskin
opening and pull out away from your body
until you feel the fraenulum stretching.
Or if your foreskin opening is large
enough you can pull back on the foreskin
until you feel the fraenulum stretching.
Hold and repeat as in the foreskin opening
stretching methods.
If the fraenulum can’t be stretched then
an alternative to circumcision is a
frenuloplasty. It is a simple operation
that does not remove any tissue but fixes
the problem with minimal healing time.
KEEP AT IT
I have sometimes seen posts from men
despairing at their lot in having a tight
foreskin. Have patience and keep at it.
Often a really despairing post is followed
by an “Oh boy! It just retracted over
the head!” post. As I said at the
beginning, even though the stretching
process may take some weeks or even months
this is probably faster than it would take
you to fully heal from a circumcision.
Also keep stretching for a while once you
get to the diameter of foreskin opening
you want. If you stop too soon it is
possible for things to tighten up again.
So just keep doing the exercises for a few
weeks or even months after everything is
loose enough to work properly.

i'm going to repeat my question cos that
last post was really long.
If anyones had frenulum breve and had it
solved by surgery, i'd be grateful if you
could tell me how much it cost (in the UK)
to go privately.
I'm going to a urologist within the next
couple of weeks, referred by my doctor,
although i'm pretty sure i have frenulum
breve, and would just like a rough idea of
how much its gonna cost.
I'm going privately cos i can't wait.
Message me if you don't wann post here.
Thanks in advance

Hi I'm from UK and been to the doctor.
He has given me caneston for a Thrush
style symptom cos my penis was red (which
it wasn't at all, it's always like that -
I SHOULD KNOW!) - It's some Hydrocortisone
1% and Clotrimazole 1%.
Why did he do this?
I know I have torn my frenulum as i can
see that it has gone slightly white where
there is a little dip in the string from
the tear as though it's dead tissue (but
still connected). Also I saw the cut there
when it bled first and 2nd time.
How can I go about gettign this operation
done. Sex is too painful and I'm so scared
of ripping it and I don't want the blood
again like the 2nd time it happened.
