Racing Heart (seems Forever) After Running
Posted: 01-03-06 23:38pm

Hi, I am a 17 year old male, and ever since my episodes have started, I can no longer run like I used to. I used to be big on being a track athlete, now I can't even make it to the end of my road. When I stop, my hearts beats fast, and I know it's normal, but it takes a very long time for it to calm down and stop beating hard and quick, and when the quickness leaves, the pounding still stays for awhile. These attacks have literally scared me to the point of insanity, so please, if there is anyone out there that can relate, and can tell me if this is from my heavy anxiety, please comment on this, I really need some support right now, any replies will be much appreciated, thanks guys and girls.

Are you currently taking any kind of medication or drug because that could lead to accelerated heart rate and certain anxiety symptoms.

Same Thing

Yes, the same thing happens to me now since I started having panic attacks. The funny thing is, when I was going on a strenuous hike with my friends and I was relaxed, that didn't happen. Of course my heart was beating fast because I was exercising, but because I wasn't thinking about it and stressing, it went down pretty quickly. I know it is going to be pretty hard to tell urself that its just anxiety and stress, as it still is for me. But maybe that will help you out a little. Good luck :d

That what ive been wondering lately.I use to work out and go for walks/jogs I coulnt even jog long cuz I used to smoke but still I remmeber thiking ok mitch push youre heart harder now make it beat faster ,now as soon as it beats a little fast I freak out.Im noticing things I never used to notice for instance when I pass a mop at work(work in a italian restaurant) I notice my heart beaitng faster. My rational side says its normal the mop is heavy full of water and im doing it in a hot kitchen for like 10 minutes my herat rate will go up and the anxiety will make it go up s well but sometimes it gives me panic.

I started taking walk again I started 5 minutes now I do 10-15 and I come back a little bit outta breath and my heart rate up but I try to fight it.

Remeber that if you stop complitly then for sure youre heart will go faster because its physical effort kinda like a chain .Wich is why I started back slow to make me strong again....Damn I should listen to my own advice sometimes lol I freak myself out going up stairs somtimes lol cuz my heart is beating faster. The other day I went up 3 floors...6 flights of stairs at 8 stair each flight my heart was beating so fast I freaked out but when I came down I realised how may stair I just went up lol.My freind was like why you freaking out?? Lol anyways hope this helps and send me somefeed back

You can always do the walk run, that is when you walk fast paced and then run some, they have found that constant running is very hard on your back and all and part of it could be anxity but if in doubt get it checked out by your dr or a cardiologist as it could be something else.
As I am not a Dr.
Good luck!
