for atleast 5 years i have had sharp pains in my left chest. the pains come quickly with no warning and only last a few seconds. i have not found that the pains occur when i am under stress. the pains get worse when i attempt to take a deep breath. recently i have thought that the more often i purge the more often i have these pains.

Eating Disorders Answer A78
Given your age (late teens) and pre-existing conditions (bulimia and depression), the symptoms that you report may be a result of anxiety and stress (neurosis) rather than heart or chest disorders . To be sure, however, a doctor can order an ECG-examination. If the ECG is OK and normal and all physical possibilities have been excluded, you might then seek advice from a mental professional for further diagnosis.
