Keeping Schizophrenia a Secret Posted: 01-03-06 18:20pm
Has anyone ever hear of someone being
diagnosed with schizophrenia but not told
about it?

First, have you been to a shrink?
If they gave you the dsm, then they know.
Your rights are to know.
They do sometimes hold back the details of
the disease. This is to keep you from
manifesting more symptoms. However, for
me I did'nt know the level of symptoms I
had, until my wife started checking into
it. If you've lived with it the majority
of your life, it seems normal.
If you think you have it, then see a
psychiatrust, not a therapist. This is a
lil more than my wife won't cooperate with
me. Therapist can also diagnose, but for
a lot of us who are paranoid. It takes
time to trust someone. If you have to do
that twice, well it's just to much like
work.
Now if you're asking about someone else.
Yea, it's completely possible. They might
not tell you, and unless they are a danger
to themselves or others, the shrink won't
say anything. Unless that person says
it's ok(via written documentation) they
might be in a delusional state, and you
could be an unwitting participant in their
delusion.
Hope this helps.
