I am not quite sure if this has anything
to do with depression, but I have a few
questions. My daughter who is only
fourteen years old has gotten caught using
marijuana quite a few times, I mention
this because I am assuming it might be
somewhat relevant. She is extremely
nervous all of the time, she bites the
skin on her fingers till they bleed, she
walks around back and forth an excessive
amount of times at completely unusual
times. She cant seem to fall asleep till
4 a.M. And recently she has mentioned
something to me. She tells me when she is
doing something for example, cleaning her
room that something/someone in her head
tells her to do things such as pick up
that trash and something good will happen.
I know this is all very confusing, but
she says she cant ignore these voices,
which she describes to be as herself and
that it is at such a great extent that
they are always there. I have also
noticed that when a situation gets a
little to hard for her to handle she goes
completely crazy starts yelling and
hitting herself. She is not violent
towards anyone else or ever has been, just
herself. Does she have a condition that I
should be worried about??? Please help.

You really need to speak to your gp about
this asap. There are many things it could
be but I dont want to worry you because it
could just be a phase she is going through
being a teenager etc. Ask her if its an
audible voice or if its just like words in
her head that she doesnt know where has
come from. This could be just a one off
episode that could be treated with
medication.......If she is still using
cannibis u should tell her to stop because
sometimes this can put peopole into
psychosis.

This Calls For Professional Help!~ Posted: 01-14-06 13:26pm
Hi, there is help for you and your
daughter. You honestly need to find a
mental health professional to help counsel
on this matter. Explain to your daughter,
its not her, its a chemical embalance in
her brain that causes these "voices" and
outburst. There are several medications
today, and it may take time/trial and
error on this part. This is not something
just talking about or going to see a
family practioner can not solve. Have
been in this same boat! Please keep us
posted!

You might want to seek professional help
for your daughter.From a doctor,therapist
or what but she needs help it sounds
like. That is most deffinantly not normal
and if her symptoms progress well...She
maybe having mental problems.And the
little "voices" might tell her to do other
stuff which will lead her to really harm
herself or others.

You need to get help for your daughter
asap. I can relate exactly to some of
her symptoms. I started having mental
problems around 12, none of my family
noticed, & when I finally cried out
for help, no one (including my parents)
helped me. My life was complete hell
from then on. I've had schizophrenia for
20 years. I'm not saying she has this,
but you need to check it out asap to make
sure she's ok.
Check it out & if needed get her the
proper help; don't be in denial about it
(a sad mistake) and do everything you can
possible to help your daughter.
