Throwing Up Some, But Feel Fine. Posted: 01-01-06 21:20pm
I only throw up my food when I eat out or
when I think I feel full and of course if
the food is fating. I do not binge and
then purge though. Is this really a
true eating disorder? :?: normally I
eat healthy. I vomit about 5-6 times a
week. Is it ok to throw up if you only
do it when you eat something really rich
with a lot of calories? I'm 5'1 and 105.
I would like to be 90. I'm a runner
and the thinner I am the easier I can run
faster. I have to stay healthy and have
energy though. :?

I think all of us mia girls can relate to
you. I know thats how I began. Please
get help and before you get full blown
bulimia. It is absolutely terrible. Why
do you think you feel the need to throw
up? The body needs food to survive and to
do activity, like running, and if you
throw up your body will not function
properly and you wont be able to preform
your best. If you want to be a better
runner, all you need to do is train, eat
lots of protein (meat, nuts) and do
endurance training. Yeah you do need to
stay healthy and have energy and you
realise, that if you are throwing up, you
wont have energy, you wont be able to
train, and you will lose your speed and
endurance very quickly. Tell me what you
think

I think you are right. I seem to thrive
on not eating much however, I actually run
faster with less food. I feel fat if I
eat anything besides dry cereal and
crackers. Anything else I will throw up.
This just started a few weeks ago. I was
an opiate addict and now I guess i'm
replacing one behavior for another. I
never got any mental help only a
medication to ween me off the pain pills I
got addicted to after my breast
augmentation surgery.
Fyi- I was physically addicted. I did not
seek out these pills to get high. I hurt
for so long I had to take pain pills so
long my body became addicted as well as my
psyche.
Now the bulima and wanting to be 90 pounds
are my new addiction.

This could be a feeling of control maybe?
I know the feeling of thriving on no
food... But then you will binge and not
be able to be the best you can be in your
atheletics. You are spending a huge
amount of your energy on your binges,
right? Planning your days around them,
making sure that your calories stay low
and your working out is high. Try and get
a new -constructive- goal to work towards.
What kind of stuff do you like besides
from running?

The dsm (diagnostic and statistical
manual) states that a person is considered
bulimic if he/she throws up at least once
a week among other factors. In my
opinion you already are a bulimic, or
maybe a purging anorexic because you
stated that you only eat crackers. You
should probably consult a mental health
professional so you can seek help.
Eating disorders are incredibly dangerous
for all people, but for althletes
especially since you are under strenuous
physical activity and much more at risk
for an electrolyte imbalance than a
regular person.(this may lead to heart
attack and even death.)
