I am a 19 year old male, living in spain. 4 days ago I noticed spots inside my mouth, thinking I had maybe burned it with hot food I thought nothing of it, 2 days later the bottom of my tongue was covered in white spots, researching on the internet I discovered I had thrush and went to my pharmacy to buy nystatin (mycostatin). Presently the infection has got worse, I currently have larger white spots on the underside of my tongue and a white sheet on the upperside. As I have never had a real illness before, have always been quite healthy and have never had unprotected sex, I am worried to see there are hardly any cases similar to my own. Also, after reading many things on the net about this condition, none of them mention the fact that my mouth will not cease producing saliva (angular chelitis I believe its called). I am finding it impossible to eat anything other than soup, having trouble drinking fluids and sleeping is very difficult due to constant pain saliva production. Should I keep going with the nystatin for a while or seek medical attention?

You should go to the doctor. They will probably give you a certain medicated mouthwash. Yours is a very painful condition I have seen it in my line of work.

Also try to avoid foods that have acid or salt in them. Soup may have alot of sodium/salt, so be careful. Avoid tomato soup. Other cream soups may be alright. Milk and yogurt would be good as well as cheeze and icecream.

I would get this taken care of asap. You could also go to your dentist. Call ahead and ask if they can treat it before you make your appiontment. Best of luck to you.
