dear dr,
recently had a video eeg study done in
hospital, was there for one week. first
day, when the neurologist did the eeg on
me in the exam room i had a seizure when
we were at the phase of the red lights
flashing on and off. i was hooked up with
the eeg to the computer and i was recorded
on a video camera the computer screen was
going crazy jumping all over with waves
and lines. this has never happened before.
when it finished well my seizure, there
were other neurologist in the room, i
couldnt talk properly and the screen was
still going mad. i was taken to my room
and i was sleep deprived that night. i was
also taken off one of my meds, keppra i
take 1000mg morning and night and i also
take epilim 1200mg morning and night. 4
hrs after being off my keppra i had a
grand mal. the nurses on the ward say that
i was having abcense seizures that turn
into grand mal seizures. i had 7 seizures
i know of while i was in hospital. the drs
put me back on my meds now. and i over
heard them talking about me in the hall
saying i had childhood myoclonic epilepsy
or something that was not picked up. i
have not yet gotten my report from my
specialists so i feel left in the dark.
wondering if you could shed some light
till i get my report.

It seems that you are in good hands; it
might help that you begin to believe and
feel this, also. These neurologists will
first help to differentiate the type of
your epilepsy. After that, they will
chose the proper medications for your
diagnosis/type of condition. I understand
that all of these medical examinations and
the uncertainty of testing can make you
feel miserable and lonely. This is the
only method for helping identify your
needs. Be patient and don’t lose hope,
everything is going to be OK.
