Irregular Periods, For Years
Posted: 12-30-05 06:40am

Hi, i'm 27 and for years i've had irregular periods, I sometimes have my period for months at a time and then sometimes I don't have them at all for months but this year I had it for most of the year and from sept oct until now i'm still bleeding, a couple of years ago doctors had me take a ultrasound and they said everything is ok, I had this one gyn doctor say if I lost weight it wouldn't be like this and I told her even before I put on the weight my periods been like this since I was 13 @ 13 I started to miss my period, a year before that I had stopped eating meat and since then my periods have been messed up they say it has nothing to do with not eating meat but that was the only change in my life.

Well i'm still bleeding and sometimes I have blood clots, I don't know what to do I go to the local health department because its all I can afford and they said they are only a screener just do paps, since the test from a couple of years ago came out fine, does anyone have any suggestion on what maybe causing this???

I am so sick of having my period, I don't know what to do, the health station pretty much can't do anything they wanted to put me on birth control but I have high blood pressure since I was 18 and now I also have diabetes got that about a year or 2 ago.

Just wondering if anyone else ever had their period like this before? :(

I have had two friends with such extreme bleeding. They each had to go on birth control - and it can take some time to find one that works. For one friend, this hormone change solved the problem. The other has to have follow up visits and has since been diagnosed with something I can't remember the name of.

Find out if your state has medical public aid, or ask the clinic if there are any other offices/hospitals/whatever that might be able to treat you. Bleeding for several months on end is not safe.

Thanks for the reply, sorry but birth control is out of the question they wanted to put me on birth control but I have high blood pressure. No clinic will take and the health station is just a screening as they told me they just do paps nothing more. I am still bleeding guess I just have to live with it. Not sure if I should go to the hospital.

I really just don't know what to do, so depressed from bleeding everyday and just seems as tho no one understands
