Hi, im very young to be having back problems. Im 17. I have always had back pain in my upper back for atleast a year. Not major but pain. Well lets see. Ever sense I was around 10i been involved with pc's. Even when I was around 12 all I did all day ( atleast 3-5) hrs a day was play on computers, and sit in one spot. Pretty much every summer ( around age 10-17) i've done nothing but sit on my bud and play games)..I've been heavily playing on computers ever sense I was 10. Its not good for my back, my back right now is fine but its just my upper always hurts. It seems like my back is arching backward..Making my buttocks look bigger, than they are. Everytime I get in a chair after a couple min, I find myself sucking in my stomach and cracking my back. Im not overweight, im pretty skinny. I also work for a carpet cleaning company which the wand puts a hurt on ur back too. And your only working one side (if ur right handed or left handed)... I been trying to do alot of walking and workouts. My question is, is there any way to straighten my back out or is it too late, im very young and want my back back...Thanks

If you realize that the major contributing factor with your back pain is gaming, stop gaming for a while and begin to do some simple streching excersises. Look for some info about streching at Spineuniverse.Com and also look for a more ergonomical chair to sit in while gaming.

I have not played games since I was about 22, right when I was getting out of the navy, I used to have a nintendo and super nintendo, if that gives you any idea how long ago it was. I am now 33 and still I do not play.

You really need to look after your health because as time moves on, back pain can only get worse and when you think you have reached the max amount of pain, you will find that there is more in store.

Take care of yourself,
brian

Well bryan,

funny as it may seem, I am also brian and my son is brian junior.... :)

it is a fine name we all carry. ;>0

if heat is working, you may also want to give some of the different menthol rubs a try. I personally have had some reliefe with the icy hot and the extra strength ben gay and the extra strength ben gay patchs. They are not cheap but they don't stink so you can be geting the results without smelling like a walking peppermint.

Go to a chiropractor now, so you do not need facet injections and surgery later. It's pretty simple. Save your back by taking care of it now. You do not need drugs or surgery at such a young age. The spine needs motion to be healthy, when the joints become locked or fixated from whatever the cause they result is pain and eventually degeneration of the joints.

The rubs and otc stuff just prolongs the problem by masking the symptoms, your body is telling you there is something wrong, fix it not cover it up.

I agree that the rubs cover it up and fixing the problem is a good idea but I would certianly recommend going to a "doctor", (md/do) the trade that "fixes" broken parts.

Play games standing up. That's what I do. In general, for every thing you do which involves, sitting, try to find a non-sitting alternative. For instance, I always watch movies in my bedroom, so I can lay on my bed.

What you do need is Acupressure mat. It helps tremendously with all sort of back pain. It heats you by applying pressure of hundreds of points, works very well.
