Q: Ortho Evra Patch - Sunday Start

Okay, so i've been on the patch since mid-september, doing the sunday start method. And I was under the impression that if you don't put on the patch within the first 24 hours of your period (as that may happen when you use the first sunday start method), that you had to use a backup contraceptive for the first week of that cycle. Which is where my question comes in. Do you do this for every month? Or only the first month that you're on the patch?

Does that make sense? What i'm asking is if you do the sunday start, and it's not within 24 hours of starting your period, and you've been on the patch for three months, do you have to use back up contraceptive for the first week every month.

Thanks guys, sorry if no one has any idea what i'm saying.

No, you don't have to do it every month. Just the first seven days of the first cycle you're using it.

Is the patch real affective and does it make you gain weight like the oral pill does?
