I need help on that question too. Is it
only the first 12 weeks you need folic
acid? Im 7 months now, but I only took it
for that long, and I dont take any
prenatal vitamins, is it necessary if im
eating healthily?

You're suppose to take prenatal vitamins
when you start trying because it's
important during the beginning. The
prenatal vitamins I got from wal-mart has
800 mg.
Prenatals are for you, it's for replacing
what the baby takes away, but i'm sure the
baby gets some of it aswell since it's
going into your body and so on.
Mine made me sick at first, but my doc
said taking 2 flinstone vitamins a day
would be just as good, if not better.

As for folic acid it can (underline this
word) can stop spinal bifida I took it
for five months with elisa and once u/s
showed nothing abnormal I stopped taking
them, now I dont recommend this cause I
dont know ur family history........ You
are supposed to start taking folic acid as
soon as you think you are preggo or you
can eat alot of bloody greens as prenatals
dont contain enough folic acids. Ask
your dr first but if you cant take
prenatals take children chewable vitamins
they taste better too lol.
