Gallbladder? Dr Says No, Pls Help!
Posted: 12-22-05 22:05pm

Hi all..K here I go..Ive been sick as a dog since easter sunday 05...Severe vomiting, diarrhea, lightheaded, pain in my right ribs, front and back, dull ache (turning into pain now) right near my belly button heading towards my right hip...My dr, who is a person, kept passing me off as if it was all in my head, prescribing me anti nausea pills, xanax etc, nothing worked! I finally had the test with the scope down the throat, they found a small hiatel hernia, and a little gastritis, the gastro dr said the syptoms I have would not be from that,,,ive been to the er at least 9 times, admitted once and was kept for 4 days, all blood work kept saying was white cell count is a little elevated, ive had ultrasounds on the gallbladder, 2 hida scans, all came back normal, now my latest blood work said the platelets are a little high...It seems no matter what I eat, I get sick, im so tired lately I nap twice during the day now...The pain seems to be getting worse, now this surgeon im seeing says it may be migranes..Migranes?? Like that would mess with your bloodwork? Ive talked to many ppl who claim they had the same symptoms as I and had their gallbladder removed, yet why wont the dr remove it? Any ideas would help me..Im scared to death, sometimes I feel like im dying with the pain esp when its near my chest...I was put on blood pressure pills a yr before these symptoms started, when im not feeling sick, my bp is fine, but when it starts up oh boy the numbers jump..So now what? Anyone with similiar symptoms pls reply , or if anyone has an idea of what I should do...I do feel like im going nuts!..Thanks in advance :-)

Have you seen a gastroenterologist? This is the dr, in my case, that really got the ball moving on getting the right tests done & getting the gallbladder removed.

Thanks for your reply...Yes I have seen the gastro dr, he has me on protonix for gastritis but says that the symptoms I have are not from gasteritis or the hiatel hernia, so I saw a gallbladder specialist who said all my symptoms point to gallbladder problems but the tests come back fine..So he sent me to a surgeon who sent me for my 2nd hida scan with cck yesterday, im watiing on the results of that...I had this scan before in august, came back fine, I also had the scan where I had to drink that barium stuff (ickkkk) and that was fine as well...Im so lost here and im so sick of being sick :-(

All my tests came back normal as well. Hida scan, ultra sounds, 2 cat-scans, upper endoscope, colonoscopy, barium enema...Etc. After all the tests, the dr's finally ruled out every other possible cause for my pain & my years of sickness. When they removed my gallbladder this past april, it was diseased. It was inflamed with adhesion's all over it & cholesterol polyps on the inside. The surgeon had to scrape the thing off my liver. It was definitely the culprit.

Just keep on the dr's. Hope things turn out well for you.

Im sorry to hear that you had to go through years of this before they took it out..Ive only been dealing with this for 9 months and I cant take it, so I cant even imagine what you went through...Im going back to see the surgeon on the 3rd, and I am going to insist that he remove it(not that he will listen, but im sure going to try) thank you for your reply, at least now I know there are others out there who are having the same experience as me..Happy holidays :-)

Hey all...Ugg here we go again I think...I had my gb removed on the 25th of january...All was well till yesterday when I started feeling "icky" again...I say icky because thats the only word I can figure to describe this feeling...Nauseated, but havent vomited...Light headed , and some pain in between my shoulder blades...Same as before..Ive changed my eating habits, not 100% but I have been eating low fat foods, cutting out alot of things I ate before....Im wondering what the heck this could be..Maybe anxiety? Any ideas cuz im really getting frustrated again...Any advice would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks :-)
oh and btw...I had no stones show up on any of the tests, but when he removed it he said the report read..Filled with velvety green mucus and piles of small black stuff (forgot the word he used) but the dr said these black things are what eventually turn into stones...So to the ppl who are sick and yet dont have stones...Dont give up..See dr after dr till someone listens to you...Im so glad this man listened to me...

Sorry for your pain but do not buy into the story that my doc gave me about the pain after the fact being ghost pains becouse the body is trying to figure out what happened to it becouse I had my gb removed over 15 years ago and still in the same and even some times worse pain than I started with
