Can Baby's Heartrate Predict the Sex?
Posted: 12-21-05 08:09am

Ok ladies. Based on present or past experience, can the baby's heart rate predict what the sex will be?? And, if you have caffeine ( I know it's a no no, but it was fresh brewed ice tea and it tasted soooo refreshing! ) an hour or two before the appt. Cause the baby's heart rate to go up? Let me know!!!

I have read that it is an old wives tale. I was also told by my ob not to count on it, but it could be true. I am definately hoping it is true because my baby's heart rate was 159. That is supposed to be girl tendencies. I would love a girl! I hope it is true. What is your baby's h/r?

at my last u/s 8 weeks, the heart rate was 160. I did have caffeine about an hour or so before my appt. So i'm not sure if that had any effect on it. I already have 2 girls so i'm hoping for a boy!!

I had an ultrasound this week at 6 weeks and my baby's heartbeat was only 120. Is that not good or not normal?

I think a heart rate between 120 and 180 is normal. You have to realize that your baby's heart just started beating so it's getting used to beating. It gets faster in a few weeks then it slows down again as he/she gets bigger.

My daughters midwife said you can tell what sex the baby is by listening to the heartbeat, if it sounds like a horse galloping its a girl, with a boy it sounds like a train, she swears by it.
