Hey there girls...
I am a currently recovering form a 6 year battle with anorexia...Fortunately I have reached a point where I am eating healthy and have gained the weight back..I am a dietitian so I have created a meal plan tailored to my needs for my bmi and resting metabolic rate...I have come across a couple problems in my recovery...Since I have never visited a health professional for my ed before I was hoping to get a little insight from anyone who has gone throught the similar problems....First off...I have been having extreme problems with bowel function...I maintained regular bowel function throughout my disorder but the second I incorporated new/extra food items my bowels have basically gone on shut down mode...I am extremely constipated even when eating twice the daily amount of dietary fiber ( leafy greens, whole grains), laxatives, etc...I never abused laxatives during my ed but now I am afraid that I am at risk for bowel obstructions, hemmoroids..Etc....Secondly...I bounced up my calorie intake from an average of 500 per day to 1200-1300 when trying to recover....The weight gain has been sooo rapid and excessive that now I am afraid I will slip back in to my old ways if the weight gain continues.....I realize that I have severely damaged my metabolism over the past 6 years...But I am eating every 6 hours( 200-300) kcal for optimal metabolic function as well as working out for an hour 3 times a week...I am wondering hwo long it will take for my weight gain to taper off and for my metabolic function to return to normal....Hopefully you guys can help if you have had similar experiences..
Thanks!
