Q: Difficulty Sleeping... Help!

Recently, everytime I lay down to take a nap or go to bed I feel like I am having an anxiety attack. My head feels really heavy, I start feeling lightheaded, I can feel my pulse in various parts of my body, and sometimes feel like i'm going to stop breathing. This is especially bad if i'm sleeping along... Not nearly as when my boyfriend is with me. Im getting to the point where i'm afraid to go to bed... I basically stay up until I can barely keep my eyes open and then try and fall asleep. Does anyone else have this problem and if so, what works to stop this? It's really frightening.
Last night I put a meditation cd in and tried listening to that... It helped me but I still felt all worked up and afraid.
