Ok im only 17 and I just startin dipping
last spring. Just cuz my friend gave me
it on spring break and I liked it and I
thought it was ok cuz my bros and my
grandapw did it and none have cancer.
Well, about 5 days ago I noticed a little
bump on my lower gums and its not an ulcer
cuz it dont hurt or nuthin. When
stretch my gums out to look at it it looks
like a little white line kinda lke the
scars I have everywhere else on my mouth.
But the thing is I cant seem to remember
gettting hit or anything recently. Its
red unless I stretch it out. Could this
be cancer since I have only been dooing it
not even a year now? I probly go thru
about 2 or maybe 3 cans a week. So yeah
im just wonderin cuz I just went to the
dentist about 2 weeks ago and he didnt see
any pre cancer cells or anyhting. So I
dont know, just lookin for a little advice
im tryin to quit and I dont want this to
happen to me so young. Thanks

A dermatologist (skin doctor) is who you
should see.
They know what to look for, and what to do
about what they find.
One question chb, you got a girlfriend?
And does she want to kiss a mouth full of
tobacco? I’m not trying to bust your
chops, ok maybe I am a little, sorry. You
say you want to quit, good! That crap
can’t be much fun to play suck face
with, and it can cause cancer like you
worry about. I don’t know if the patch
is any good for quitting dip, but stop by
the drug store, and read the label.

Yeah thanks, its only been a week so im
gonna just see wtu happens in about a week
or two. My brothers friend who is trainin
to be a dentist said it just looked like
an ulcer that hasnt developed yet to him.
He use to dip and he said hed have those
for over a month at times so I dunno. Do
u think that fake products such as back
off with no tobacco or nicotine would
help?

Don’t know, but if it’s fake, well
that tells you something right off.
Never did much snuff, but I quit smoking,
a 20 year 1 1/2 pack a day habit by being
where you are right now. I wanted to, and
I made my mind up that come hell or high
water, I wasn’t going to light up that
first one.
It helped that my girlfriend at the time
didn’t smoke. That was january 1987.
That girlfriend is my wife now and we have
a mortgage and a couple of kids to boot.
I still don’t smoke, and you can do it
too.
Stick to your guns, never give it
anything, don’t make any deals with
tobacco, just tell it no. It gets easier
every day,

Thanks man that helps out alot. I just
gotta get away from people who do it and
make me want to. Its hard when ur on a
baseball team full of dippers. But lets
just hope for the best. Thanks
