Hand Vein Injury

Hi everyone-
my mother recently hurt her hand
on-the-job. A part of a machine hit the
vein on the top of her hand and busted it,
causing mass swelling. They
took her to the company doctor who took an
xray, found nothing broken.
Said to keep ice on it and take ibuprofen.
Since it is known that company
docs are "for the company" my mother
decided to go to her primary care
doc to make sure everything was going to
be okay with her hand [it has
been 5 days and hand is still swollen].
He refused to discuss anything
about the injury since it was on-the-job.
Are there doctors that will
discuss on-the-job injuries or are they
all that way?
Any injury-care suggestions or knowledge
about the above question
would be so helpful! Thank you
