Q: Hypoglycemia And the Stomach Flu

Can anyone give a mom of a 4 year old some help on how I should handle the stomach flu for a severely hypo 4 year old boy. The last two times my son had the stomach flu he ended up in the hospital in a ketonic state (the last time he almost went into coma). When he gets the stomach flu it just spirals out of control. I follow what the doctors tell me but I think his body is just different. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. He also is allergic to almost all food so many things are out of the question (i.E.-pedialyte). He will not drink fruit juice or sprite or anything sweet. I kind of think giving him anything sugary really makes the situation worse. I would love to give him cheese or meat. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!!
Jennifer

Read the maker's diet and put him on the program. Our modern food industry is not too good for these types of things. May get pricey, but it's worth it, trust me.
