Q: Does Frequent Masturbation Cause Hair Loss?

People usually dismiss this claim as a myth but I have read several articles on the subject and many 'experts' say that frequent masturbation can indeed cause hair loss.

I started masturbating (frequently) at around the same time my hair started to get thin and my hairline started to recede.

do you think there is any truth in it? In my opinion, there must be something in it, this question gets asked a lot.

It's frequent ejaculation, not neccessarily just masturbation. And it's usually only common if you ejaculate 5 times a day, daily, and if hairloss runs in your family.

I would say you shouldn't believe anything that starts with, "if you masturbate ...". The only exceptions might, "if you masturbate all day you'll probably be sore".

People are oddly caught up with all things sexual. The idea that masturbating can cause hair loss implies:

1) there's a way to prevent your hair loss
2) doing something "bad" is causing your hair loss

this sounds like something you'd hear in a 50's health class movie. I'd be absolutely shocked if there was any actual evidence to this. Until you read this on cnn don't worry about it. Even if you do read it on cnn, its too late for you, so enjoy yourself.

Still, think about, do you think it adds up to more than 100-300 a day?

When people talk about masturbation might be responsible for this or that, you might as well say that sex is responsible for it, because the end result of masturbation and sex is about the same i.E. Ejaculation/orgasm.

One thing I dont understand about this board. Whenever someone even hints that masturbation might have caused some problems, then immediately some agressive pro-masturbation person comes along and authoritatively asserts that masturbation cannot cause any such effects.
Why are pro-masturbators so sure that it causes no harm? It seems they are all experts on the subject. Either that or they would like to think they are!

As far as I know, mankind can never do enough research on this topic to conclusively say anything. I think the human body is too complex for that.

By the way, I am not against masturbation. Just against excessive masturbation. I feel it might even be good for sexual health if done moderately and not going crazy doing it 5, 6 times a day.
That amount of masturbation, in my opinion is for losers who have nothing else going in their life except their sex organs.

The ejacultion point that spanky makes is true, it is ejcaultion and not just masturbation.

Kiemister: I wouldn't start to worry unless you start noticing patches of baldness or something.

They used to saay that too much masturbaation causes blindness, you caannot believe everything you read, also wearing a hat and using a certain kind of shampoo also causes blindness they have said but no need to worry, blind men are beautiful but to me four to six times a day is a lot of mastubating but safer than getting std's
good luck!

Masturbation in the long run may cause these symptoms. The causes may not be all well researched, as it is one act that effects an indiviual in all realms, spiritual, psychological, and physical. One simple observable physical fact is that large amount of blood and energy from the head is diverted into the pelvic area.
