Q: Flu Shot

My children ages 3 and 10 months received their first half of a flu shot. My Dr. Called and said that they were unable to have their second dose due to the shortage of the vaccine. Will half of a shot help them at all?

Flu 2003
This years flu shots are not even doing much good, if any. Don't worry about it. Practice frequent hand washing, avoid sick people. If you or anyone in your family gets sick, stay home. If you go to the doctor, do that and go home. Do not go to the pharmacy. Send someone else. It is not fair to expose the employees and other customers to your germs when you are sick. Eat well and ask the doctor about your concerns.

Flu vaccinations are so dangerous, I do not know why people even get them. And once one strand of the flu dies off, another one is born. Each and every virus is different, so the vaccine will not do any good. Like the other post said, just try to keep your kids away from the virus (as much as possible) and make sure they wash there hands a lot.
Every person I know who ever got a flu shot, actually got the flu from the shot. And I also know someone who was paralyzed for four years from the vaccine. It is a miracle that he ever walked again. So be very careful!

Flu Shot
You should do the next best thing to getting the flu shot.....Well it is better for you then getting the flu shot.

Keep your immune system strong. Take a good liquid multi-vitamin, eat right, cut out refined sugars and carbs, and keep a good quality colloidal silver handy.

I use to get the flu every year like you, and for 2 years got the flu shot which did not help. I still got the flu those 2 years. Turned out I got a version of the flu that was not covered in the flu shot.

I started the above to keep my immune system strong, and have not had the flu in the 3 years I have done this. Neither has my wife or daughter, who is in the 5th grade.

How to Prevent Bird Flu And Other Viruses
Hi teach282,

there's some good advice here.

Teaching your children great hand hygiene (washing their hands) and especially if you lead by example is probably the best advice for avoiding influenza and colds.

Viruses like influenza mutate fast and often the flu shots you take are ineffective by the time the virus gets to your children.

If you'd like more information on how to wash your hands (and to get your children to wash their hands check out the post on this forum called how to prevent bird flu.

Kindest regards,
andrew cavanagh (amwa)

Is It Correct ???????
Types of flu
influenza a is the most common form of flu and it is the root cause behind the serious epidemics. Influenza a virus has recently shifted into mammals. Birds have the greatest number and range of influenza strains. Apart from birds, it sometimes appears in pig, human and horse influenza strains as well.

influenza b is restricted to humans only and it changes less often as compared to influenza a viruses. Occurrence of influenza b is unpredictable but there's a possible chances of its occurring at the same time as influenza a does. An influenza b virus is always included in the annual vaccine, so anyone who receives a flu shot during a particular will stay away from this virus.

Influenza c it's normally transmitted from person to person via contagious droplets that are spread when an infected person sneezes or coughs. It's very common but rarely causes disease symptoms. The common indication of this flu is high temperature, flushed face, body aches, and lack of energy.

Wendy, sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I doubt it is related to the flu shot though as the flu shot contains inactivated virus. They are dead and there is no way you can get the flu from a flu shot. Those symptoms you described are not flu symptoms. Some side effects of the flu shot are soreness at the site of the injection, and possibly an infection at that site but that is very rare.

Yes, frequent hand washing is very good advice. Notice that you must scrub your hands for 2 minutes when you wash. Not all people know to do that. I also recommend using an alcohol-based sanitizer like Purrell. It is equally or more effective than hand washing and you only need to scrub for 30 seconds and let it dry. Kills MRSA too Wink.
