One week ago I started taking ortho tricyclen lo. I'm not yet sexually active, but I am planning to have sex at the end of december. The problem is that is when I am suppose to take the placebo's and start my period. First of all I don't want to have sex while on my period but if I did could I get pregnant? Should I just skip the placebo's and start a new pack, or start a new pack tomorrow? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated thank you.

You do not have to skip having sex during your period week of birth control pills. Keep taking them like normal, and you will be fine.

Triphasic pills are not meant for skiping periods. Only monophasic pills like seasonale, are used for that purpose. You need to finish up your pack, and then ask your doc later about switching if you like. What pill are you on? If it is all one color, except for the period week, then you can easily skip a period.

Thats triphasic, so it's not a good idea to skip periods with that. It doesn't work as well as a monophasic regimine.

you may have a few days at the beginning of your placebo week when you're not bleeding yet. Your period doesn't always start as soon as you finish the active pills. Even if it does start right away, it probably won't last an entire week. And the pill often makes your period lighter, so if you have no choice but to have sex while you're bleeding, it might not be as bad as you think. I hope it works out for you.
