No I havent been to them but why would you want to take so many supplements? If you eat regular food on a daily basis there is no reason to take much more than a regular multi-vitamin. No special tablet needed, just a centrum or one-a-day or even store brand tablets.

It is a total waste of money to use these specialty supplements, if you need a more powerful vitamin, you family doc will advise you on a regimen and they will be likly to prescribe a vitamin supplement.

Selling vitamins is a big business that plays on the ignorance of the public and they can make you sick if you are not already because the mega-quantities in the garbage they are trying to sell. Most of the time the companies don't even care if they sell vitamins because their major goal is to sell franchise ownership with the expectation that you would be able to get rich by getting more of your friends and family to buy their own business selling vitamins.

I personally recommend that you go to c.V.S. And buy the store brand multi-vitamin and use it to supplement your diet, then you need to develop a good meal plan to ensure you are getting the necessary vitamins from food. Food is the very best way to achieve a good store of the vitamins and minerals you need, supplementation is just that.... A supplement to your already healthy diet regeim not your only source of good health.

Good luck;
brian

Hi brian,

thanks for your useful reply.

I take a number of different vitamins every day - I realise there is some controversy about taking some vitamins but there is good scientific evidence to back up taking some regular supplementation - and why not? I see it as a way to hedge my bets - just in case something does some good as yet unproven!

I don't eat as many fruit or vegetables as I know should, partly out of convenience and partly out of (bad?) lifetime habits...

I saw this "make your own multivitamin" company - mitamins - and saw it as a way to cut down on the number of bottles clogging up my bathroom!

I was on the their site recently again and they actually have a good library - that tells you exactly what scientific papers back up what evidence about every ingredient - and is says if the evidence for a certain health condition is flimsy or sound. I have a few conditions/problems that I need to watch and this is good to separate fact from the huge amount of fiction out there.

Best

Do your family a favor, go to your family doc with a list of all of the supplements you take and see if he/she agrees with all that you are taking.

Also if you are dealing with life threatening issues that are real and deadly, multi-vitamins or other herbs and spices made by the chienese or some fruitcake in a lab somewhere is not going to help you survive.

At the end of the day it is your call as to what you put in your body but it should at least be something you talk to your doc about.
