Q: Hi! Im New Here. Question About Clomid...

Im 29 and about to start my 5th cycle of clomid. Im up to 150 mg. I have seen 2 dr's, one said to take it on days 3-7 and the other said days 5-9. Does it really make a difference? If so, what determines which days to take it? Today is day 3 of my cycle and the impatient part of me wants to take it right now. This is driving me crazy!!! Anyone have any advice? Thanks, lola :?

Hi lola.
I don't know much about clomid, my doctor is going to put me on it in a few weeks after she does some blood work. I just went to the Dr. A few days ago and she gave me the rundown on it to see if I would like it. She said that it depends on you, so that "impatient" part inside of you may just be your body saying "feed me the drug, I need it now". Even though doctors are quite more skilled at this than we are, you know you're body and how you feel better than you could ever describe to a doctor.

Hi
i am also new around here but wanted to tell you a few things I know about clomid. I was on it for 6 months, while I was on it I looked up on the net that women that started on cd3 had a greater chance of getting pregnant then the women that started cd5. Also they say a women on it for 5- 6 cycles and does not get pregnant will more then likely never get pregnant on it. Hope this helped and good luck this cycle!

Clomid
I was on clomid for 3 months. I had to take it from the 5-9th day. Usually between the 11-14th day you ovulate. I did usually around the 12th day. I had to get off the clomid because when I ovulated it was very painful for me. Around my ovulation time I had an internal ultrasound done. They determine if there are any eggs in your ovaries. I would have 2-4 of them. But I never did concieve.... I have been trying to have a baby since 1996 and I have not yet.. I am going to be 38 this year.....

I did two cycles on day 5 evening. Had one egg each time this last time I did it very early day 4 after doing reading and had two mature eggs. From what I read if you do it sooner then there is more of a chance to get a mature folical. On this last cycle, still have a week to go, on the ultrasound we could actually see the egg within the folical and could see that sometime soon that egg was going to rupture from the shape. Took hcg anyway to know when it would pop and get the second one to pop as well. One was 19 and the other 20mm, very mature. This time I was also put on preventative care in case I did become pregnant and prevent an early miscarrage with progesterone. Never knew there were so many options to have progesterone. A gel, man made supository, pills and the injectable. First two are vaginal twice a day, pills three times a day and the injectable once a day, with costs varying from $400 to $200 to $50. Insurance covers injectables as an off brand, pills only as a brand name and the vaginal options were not covered. So I opted for the injectable $16 under the insurance plan for 20 day supply. Granted some shots hurt and bruise badly but so far I have been able to use one thigh to inject into. Saving my other thigh for next month, pending it is a bf .

My aunt who also took clomid 17 years ago took 50mg the first time, first month, and had twins who are now about to graduate high school. And followed up with same dose two months trying had a son and again tried this time 4 months and had another son.

Best wishes with clomid working.

Gina

Hi lola, I was on clomid for 5 months with no luck. I took on days 3-8. Try it for 3 cycles. If not successful, don't bother trying for another 3 cycles. You are wasting your time. Sometimes the problem is not with the woman. Have your partner get a sperm analysis to make sure his sperm count is low or he doesn't have low sperm motility. I just found out after 2 years of trying to conceive that my husband has a varicocele (varicose vein in the scrotum) that causes low sperm motility. He now has to have an operation to correct it which will improve our chances.

It's better to rule out all the possibilities of infertility.

Good luck.
