I am going to be 38wks monday. I told my doctor that I wanted to have my son before my due date. I asked him about castor oil and all he said was that he did not think that was a good idea that it just makes you sick and that he will come when he is ready. I did not want to here that at all. So I asked him to check to see if my cervix had thinned. He was like no dialation, and 50% thinned. So I am wondering how do they really know jsut by feeling that I have thinned. I have been wearing panty liners and there has been brown discharge. But I am not sure if that is like part of the mucus plug. (i have had notthing slimy yet and I am not sure if he has dropped, midwife says he has not, but the way it feeels when I walk I swear I think he has. So question is how do I make him drop and how do I make him come by next week pls help. This weekend I am going to make my husband go walking with me. Oh and is it possible to really be 50% thinned? Or was he just trying to give me hopes. And when he checked me he really hurt me, he pushed so hard on the uterus that I felt my son ball p at the top of my belly. And then I cramped the whole way home.Sex does not even hurt that bad. Whta did he do?

Hi, I don't have the answers on everything that you are asking, but I can tell you that I had a friend that wanted her baby to come earlier too, and the doctor said to her that there is nothing that they could do unless it was life threatening to her or her baby and that the baby will come when it is good and ready...Her baby started gaining weight rapidly in the 8th and 9th month of her pregnancy and they were thinking about inducing her because the baby was getting more and more overweight...But as a week passed by she ended up going into labor on her own...Also my cousin danielle was told by her ob/gyn to walk a lot and to eat spicy foods I think. I am pretty sure she said spicy...But as for any woman every pregnancy is different..Just try to take pride in knowing that you are more than likely going to have a full term baby and most mothers can only dream of that...=) good luck

Here are some things that my Dr. Had suggested that I do when I was overdue:

have sex- there is a hormone in a man semen that thins the cervix
walk
(this sound wierd) sit in a bath tub and stimulate your nipples for one hr.
It releases a hormone that can help bring your labor on.

Now all that being said I still had to go in and be induced at a hospital, so dont know if it works for others or not but these were all recommended by a Dr. To me.
