Last year when I was depressed I started scratching the same way you did. One day I almost committed suicide by cutting all up my arm with a knife but the old me inside kept yelling "please dont!" and I had to trust myself about it. If you know why you are depressed perhaps we could help more, if you don't really have a reason all I can say is you have to stop. Many of us have been in the same boat as you and have made it out happy. The scars will probably never fade, but knowing I concurred my own destroyer will always remind me how strong I am.

Hi,

what are the reasons as to why you started self harming?? Are you having problems at home or at school??

Often self harm is associated with depression. If you are suffering from depression, or alot of stress could you maybe think of some ways to reduce this, because as your problems cease then maybe the self harm shall too (if you catch it at an early stage - it is very addictive and once you start it can be quite difficult for many people to give up).

Do you think that maybe you could think of some other ways in which you can deal with your feelings other than self harming?? Such as doing something creative when you feel you want to do it, or have you considered talking to a school counsellor about it??

Take care.

Hey im 15 and went through the same thing u r...When I was 12 I would scratch and bit myself, then moved on to paper clips, then saftey pins, and now pocket knives..So as u can tell it gets worse and worse...But this year I am a freshman in a new school district and I met this one guy and he is now my best friend and I love him more than the world and I told him about 3 monthes ago what I do...And at first he didnt treat me ny different but now...He is making me stop...It was his xmas wish for the year and I would do ny thing for him so here I am almost 4 weeks later and cut free...So please just try and stop...Even if your friend isnt the reason...Good luck

Please don't do this. I know it makes things feel better, but ultimately when you get further into it... Braver... You will try other things. I've done it. I quit though and unfortunetly now smoke whenever I feel the need to let myself know how much I hate me lol.

I know that self harming makes you feel better but in the long term it just leaves you with scars to haunt you for the rest of your life.

and you said you scratch and bite yourself, that is a minor form of self harm.
nonetheless it is still self harm so please try to stop this ok.

and I understand its hard and it cant be done in a day but please try to do this, ive been through it all before. and im only 14, and i hear voices and have been in a pychiatric unit for a year of my life so that ruined my childhood already.

good luck anyway. :p

To agree with what was already said, it is extreamly addicting. I have quit smokeing and cutting, ANd smokeing was extreamly easy compaired to cutting... you have realized it early. Which is good, so try and stop. Find other ways to releive stress or bordom. a loved ones helps a lot, boyfriend or girlfriend.
