A couple days ago I started having some pain and discomfort in my bottum right rib. At first I igored it thinking it was a pulled muscle or something. It has been keeping me up at night because it hurts no matter how I lay. The wierd thing is that I dont even know what I did to it. I was feeling it and feeling my left side ribs too in order to compare them. I noticed if I push on that sore rib it moves. Only the bottum right one moves and makes a sort of pop like noise. It hurts and I cant take any pain meds for it because my husband and I are trying to concieve. I have an appointment with my doctor on tuesday but it is really annoying me. I also called the ask a nurse and she said it wasnt an emergency thank goodness. I dont know what it is but if anyone else has had this or something similar let me know. I would feel a lot better.

Dislocated
Ahh! This exact happened to me two days ago...I was in gym warming up, doing very easy stretches when I felt a sharp pain in my upper back. I became short of breath and it felt like something was pushing against my lung. I asked the gym teacher about it and she said that rib dislocations happen frequently, often by next to nothing and that it can be fixed easily by a chiroprator who'll just "pop" the rib back into the vertebra. So ya im going to the chiroprator tomorrow woo to get it fixed cuz whenever I touch it it moves and it hurrttsss and I can't breath!!!

I would have sworn that I had a broken rib after an falling on a friends knees durring a football game that we were all too old and too dumb to be playing.

I actually had such bad intercostal swelling that the doc/np sent me for xrays because she said she had not seen that kind of swelling and bruising without there being a break/fracture.

Low and behold, no break no fracture. It took me months to get the pain under control and when it finally did go away, I decided not to be playing football anymore.

On a side note, if you are trying to concieve, you can still take certian meds that will have little to no affect on your fertility. There is no reason not to seek medical aid and also get advice and possibly a prescription for prenatals while at the docs office. At a minimum you should be taking a folic acid supplement everyday from now until the baby is born and done nursing.

Good luck,
brian

rib injury?
I have noticed similar symptoms today. I am sore at the base of my ribs and tender to the touch. The right side seem almost shorter and lower than the left. I feel as if something is poking just under my rib cage. I'm thinking I may have injured it during a pilates exercise. Does this sound like a dislocated rib or is there such a thing? Suggestions? I have no health insurance and don't want to run to the ER for nothing.
