My symptoms are nose congestion and something that I can't name - it's like pain around nose (in sinuses) and in the nose. Symptoms are becoming bigger in evening and night, also because of stress, fatigue and warm domestic air.
Medicaments like: nasal sprays (for egzample azelastine), water sprays and decongestants bring small relief.
I've had criosurgery but without effect.

Vasomotor rhinitis
I have the same thing for 7 years now but mine is mostly ear pain, nasal drip, which only flairs up when I smell things or temp change or pressure change. Just this week got a name for it and treatment that seems to be helping. I too had sinus surgery years ago that didn't help. Now I am using sinus rinse daily and astelin nasal spray. Other nasal sprays didn't work but this one is. I must warn you, it taste nasty! Make sure you have something to drink after using it, but within a minute or less it relieves the pressure and ear pain and other facial pains and then starts to drain down the back of your throat. Ask your doctor about it if you haven't tried it yet!

What was your diagnosis? What do you do to make yourself feel better? Do you turn the heating up? Go outside? Go somewhere dry? Is Astelin OTC or is it prescription - a nasal steroid?

Vasomotor rhinitis
Astelin is prescription nasal spray and sometimes helps. Sinus rinse helps also, sometimes nothing helps and I lay down with head back and it drains down throat. Sometimes it takes hours for relief and sometimes eating crunchy foods helps, hot soup or tea helps. Steam over face helps. Just avoid the things that triggers it! Sometimes that is impossible to do though.

For me things that triggers it is night lights while driving, stress, crying, cold air, elevators that go up high, airplane pressure of going up high, and most of all smells, anything other than food. Candles, soap, aerosol sprays, perfume, smoke from grills or fireplace, deodarant, car or bus fumes, lotions, etc. Even sea food bothers my when in grocery store. The best thing I can tell you is stay away from those things and see if it helps. There is no cure only medicine to help and it doesn't always work!
