|hi, I am currently pregnant with my first child. And I am considering donating my cord blood to a private bank. I have heard about cord blood stem cells, which could help treat diseases. And cord blood banking.
Unfortunately my cousin is 4 years old and she has leukemia. My doctor told me that I should consider banking my babyâs cord blood in hopes of curing sarah from leukemia.
I need some advice. Has anyone banked their cord blood? Are their any recommendations on which bank to use? Honestly, can the stem cells treat her disease? Do you know of any personal stories of a situation similar to this that turned out positive? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.
I have did reserch on this and I am donating my sons cord blood, from what I have learned you can not donate to a private bank . Private banks are for familys who want to pay for the blood to be saved for them, you would have to donate to a public bank I will include who I am using. However if you are going to donate to your family then you should talk to your doctor and see if they can do it and see if there would be a charge for it, you family may have t pay for a private band to hold the cord blood until she can use it, and that is alot of money, I wanted to save mine for my son just in case, but we cant afford it, so I would rather save the life of another child if possible and pray that my son would never need it. And if he does maybe god will send him an angel.
I want to help her out so much and if iâm in the position that I can, I will. Not only am I excited to have this baby, iâm also excited to help cure sarah.
Thank you to everyone in advance for your help.
