Q: Left Top Chest Pain & Inflammation, Stops Breathing?

My husband has been suffering these symptoms for approx. 4 months, has had a full medical incl. Blood test, chest x-ray etc...But the Dr. Says he is perfectly healthy?? He doesn't want to go back to to doctor as he doen't have any faith in him, but I am worried and eager to find an accurate diagnosis / help!!
1. Upper left chest/shoulder has constant dull ache/pain. This does not get better or worse during exercise.
2. Dull constant pain in left side (like it's a bruised rib?).
3. When he falls asleep he sometimes wakes up in shock, feeling like he realises he is not breathing - he looks totally white, with red around his eyes and nostrils for about 10secs. His heart rate feels strange for about 24hrs afterwards - not fast, but he just says it feels weird (and not palpitations).
4. Headaches
5. Constipation sometimes
6. He exercises approx. 4-5 times a week, is very fit and healthy, does not drink regularly (once a month), doesn't smoke.
I have looked up various websites and forums which lead mainly to digestion / gall bladder / h. Pylori bacteria etc diagnoses, but i'm not sure if they're really the same thing as my husband's symptoms.
I would really appreciate any comments or advice!! Thanks.

Just a suggestion, next time your husband wakes up with his 'heart feeling strange' take his pulse either his carotid (neck) or wrist or even place your hand gentley on the upper left quadrant of his chest. You should be able to feel his heart beat. It should be like this:
lubb.Dubb....Lubb.Dubb....Lub..Dub
record his pulse if you can -- it should be between 60 and 100.
Listen to the consitency of the beat. Does it stop for a couple of seconds? Like miss a beat. Did your doctor do an ecg this shows the rhythem of the heart and will detect any abnormalities at that time.
It does sound like your husband may be experiencing sleep apnoea.
This is when the person will stop breathing for short periods of time in the night whilst they are asleep. It seems to have a predisposition for those who are heavy snorers, overweight, middle aged. I know where im from you can arrange an overnight stay in a specilised unit in our hospital where the client sleeps overnight and is monitored continously by a nurse who take vitals (like o2 stats, heart rate etc) you may want to check it out. I would really suggest possibly seeing another doctor as these types of symptoms can be of a serious nature and should not be present in a healthy fit person.
Hope this helps.
