Two days ago I noticed a small, about 3mm in diameter and about 2mm in hight, on the shaft of my penis. When it is pressed it hurts slightly, much like a pimple would. It is slightly red, which is the only thing that makes it noticable. I am a male, 16 year old virgin and I am wondering what this pimple like bump would be caused by. I have done a bit of research and I have found that it is possible to get pimples anywhere on your body, including your genital area. I have also read a bit about ingrown hairs, so that is another possiblity.

However I have read about servral std's that involve pimple like bumps. I highly doubt it is an std, all I have only had oral sex once and the girl I did it with was a virgin.

Also I play hockey, so I was wondering if it may have been caused by sweat. I have told my mother about it and if it doesn't seem to be healing within a few days we will be schedualing a doctors apointment. But for now it would be great if you could share your knowledge with me, possible causes, cures and mainly what it is.

Thanks in advance.

Its probably just a ingrown hair (since ur a virgin). Those things hurt really bad. Just pop it and some junk will squeeze out (might bleed alittle like a pimple) and it'll go down by the next day or two

If they are red, and look like there is something black (a hair) below the surface they're probably just ingrown hairs. If they are more skin tone, they can be just that; zits/pimples. This would likely be from the sweat (ie: hockey) and not showering/cleaning well enough afterwards. If they are skin tone and have a hair growing from them, they are likely just a new growing hair.

I can't tell if there is a hair below it or not because my hair is orange and very light. I will pop it tonight, shoudn't cause any harm. I was hopeing to hook up with a girl within the next two days, so if I pop it there are still chances of that.

Well, I guess i'm not very sure how to go about poping it. I tried with just my figers but it seemed that no matter how hard I pinched it, it wouldn't pop. The only way I can see it poping is by using a safety pin and poping it like a blister.

Another thing about it, it is soft, not kind of hard like a zit. I'm pretty sure it's an ingrown hair, but I can't see the hair because my hair is so light. Is there any other way it might heal? Or should I try poping it with a safety pin. I have never popeda zit before because I have pretty clear skin.

If you *really* think that it's ingrown, the easiest way to take care of it is to use tweezers. Just lightly pinch the area where the hair appears to be with the tweezer. Once you can see the hair, grip it lightly with the tweezers to pull it out of the layer of skin that is covering it, but not so hard as to pull it completely out (of the root). It may sound painful, but it really works well if you know what you're doing and you're careful.
