I hate to be another person on here without a clue, but I have similar symptoms.

It started 3 weeks ago as a sore throat in just one spot deep in my throat on right side. I thought it was a fish bone stuck in there. I saw the doc 2 weeks ago and she saw white spots on my throat and thought I had some fungal infection. I was given lozenges but this didn't help. I also had a dry cough.

Now my right gland had become swollen tonight.

From my research it appears to be Mononucleosis. I have an appointment with a ENT in a few days.

I will post my outcomes if others do the same!!!!!!!

OK I'll be one of the rare ones to get back to update on my progress. Lol.

ENT found nothing wrong and sent me on my way. But chatting on another forum, it appears it is linked to tight neck muscles running down under my neck. This made the gland appear up but it was just the knotted muscle underneath.

So try this- Neck Release:
Place your hands behind your head touching your fingers. Press into the back of your neck with them and hold the pressure on them. After 45 seconds slowly lower your head until your neck is fully extended. Release the pressure but hold your head there for another 30 seconds.

Worked for me.

Swollen glands in the neck
This may be your body telling you it is in overload and can not process out all of the toxins we have put in our bodies. I would recommend that you help your bodies out a little and jump in a sauna 20 mins a day for a week. A dry sauna is best but wet will work as well. Local club or YMCA. You may also want to schedule either a massage or acupuncture or both. Stay off sugars and processed foods. The more reds and darker colored vegtables uncooked should help. Be sure to get a Doctors approval before you start any self help programs. Heres to better health...Take care J

Augmentin. Google it. I suffered with these same symptoms for months and finally got a 14 day treatment. By day 8, the sinus symptoms disappeared. Two weeks after the prescription was finished, all the other symptoms were gone (swollen glands, sore throat, heavy lungs, ear ache on left side).

I am just now starting to get my strength back and find that I'm sleeping less and less each day. I no longer wake up tired and I feel like I got a good nights rest.

A 7 day antibiotic won't do squat, trust me I know, you must be treated for 14 days or more (not over 21 days).

Lastly, not all antibiotics are the same for each individual. What works on some people may not work on others. If you feel you're not getting results, don't be afraid to ask for another type.

Good luck

Find a doctor who can diagnose and treat Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome and Fibromyalgia.

My 21 yr old son is complaining of the same symptoms...one swollen gland, jaw and ear hurting. As well lacks energy and always tired. He does not look after himself properly and when I explain that he must get onto a decent diet and get more sleep, he sighs and mutters. He is in a band ...need I say any more....
He has had countless blood tests, scans and there are more blood tests on the way...so far all drawn blanks. It is very worrying. Read the suggestion about probiotics and may be worth a shot...will suggest that...at least it cant harm....hope everyonelese is feeling better!

My REGIMEN to relieve a swollen and sore left gland...
I have had this (swollen and sore left gland in throat without any other 'cold' symptoms) occur multiple times in the past few years and I do believe it is your bodies way of excreting excessive toxins.

I always wake up, run for 15 minutes, then gargle with apple cider vinegar 3x throughout the day. I take a variety of supplements including a multivitamin, C, B-Complex, E, Fish Oil, and Flaxseed oil, individually throughout the day with my snacks/meals that consists of only fruits, vegetables, and water for at least 24 hours. I again run for 15 minutes the next morning and continue to gargle with apple cider vinegar again. I maintain my supplement regimen, but will incorporate more foods into my diet again, while staying away from anything toxic as long as I can. Of course, do not expose your body to alcohol, smoke, or any other chemicals. I also agree that massages are a great way to increase the excretion of toxins and can be incorporated too!

My throat is usually back its normal state after about 3 days. Hope this helps you as well, good luck!

Hey everyone,

Amazing no one has brought up carotidynia, which is what my ENT said I had. Left side, felt like large painful swollen gland. No sore throat. No cold. Apparently really common. Antibiotics no help, only steroids help it. Google it....

I have in the past been diagnosed with CFS. There is no cure for CFS. Lately I have developed these "new" symptoms. Twice now I have had the sore throat, swollen lymph glands in the left side of my neck, pain that runs from my temple to my jaw and down my neck when I move my head. Also, I tire easily which is the most classic symptom of CFS. Many doctors do not believe CFS is real. My CFS was diagnosed with blood tests, one of them was an EBV teter...one test was inconclusive without the other, however, I cannot remember what the other test was for. Maybe this may be of help to someone, but I am sorry to say it is not hopeful as there is no known cause or cure, and most doctors think it is all in one's head.

Long time sufferers get on your docs case!!
Sometimes if you've just had dental work done you can get swollen glands. This is due to an infection or an abscess. You gotta go back to your dentist so they can begin a course of anti-biotics.
My glands have only just flared up so taking advice from my doc I gotta wait it out as my body is fighting an infection (and 3 members of my family were really ill)
I have also had my tonsils out years back.

It didn't start of painful but now I'm finding it uncomfortable and also the back of my throat and ears are really tickly and scratchy. The only way I can get relief from that is to dip a cotton bud into a bit of Vicks vapour rub balm and put in my ear......what??? I hear you say? Trust me, great great relief from the itchy/scratchyness.

As for my glands, last time I had pain like this was when my wisdom teeth were pushing through. I went to my dentist 1st time. He gave me antibiotics and said if the pain comes back after the course finishes, I'll have to have my wisdoms out. Well it did and I had the operation.

I've also had a swollen glad just bellow my chin which was the size of a golf ball, it was followed by lots of sore hard spots on my chin. When I saw my doc she said its swollen because my glands were storing toxins as I no longer have tonsils so the germs basically need somewhere to 'hang out' there was me thinking cancer, cancer, CANCER!!!

So, over there years I've had all sorts of things like this. For all you guys who have had it for months, that's just ridiculous. You gotta get on your doc's case!
I only called my doc this morning and she said if there's no improvement by Monday I gotta go back to her.

Good luck people, good health.xx

'm having problems with the same thing. I was diagnosed with an ear infection but it's much more serious than that i know. My gland under my jaw is swollen the size of a golf ball and i've had a severe and extreme pain when swallowing along with a fever between 99 and 102. I've been on antibiotics for the last few days and they haven't seemed to help at all. I found this massage therapists videos and these massages are really helping me. I hope they help you too. It made me cry going through all the posts and knowing so many people are troubled with this because it really hurts and doctors don't seem to care to help.
also try gargling with acv and warm salt water and phenol throat sprays

swollen left neck gland
antibiotics are poison , do not go near doctors they are clueless when it comes to health . i had this problem for a day. you have an infection ,that your body is dealing with. help your body by disolving the built up toxins , like soaking a face towel in hot water and gently massage the swollen glands , if your infection is from the mouth gargle with warm salty water.most importantly fast , your body then diverts the energy in digesting food into healing itself, good luck , change your diet , from highly processed , toxin riddled ready made meals to going back to basics like steaming vegetables with boiled potatoes , read about it . water fasting between 3 to 5 days , would help your body clear a lot of built up toxins , read about this . wish you luck

Mine just started hurting yesterday morning (Christmas Eve) and get worse as the day progressed. Hurt too bad to eat or talk and swallow... My throat is not raw and does not burn at all.. I have no cold...just the gland or lymph node that is hurting.. When I attempt to palpate it I cannot locate it...Several in mid front left neck area, are tender but feels like the one doing the serious hurting is too deep for me to feel..I was wondering if it is the Mumps lol ..yeah at age 63 lol... was very hard to sleep and breath last night..throat was extremely dry 2 days prior to it hurting.Gonna find me a doc tomorrow ..the pain is just a bit too strong and don't want to keep taking pain meds..Not good for ya ya know...Good luck all..If ya find out what it is please post ..sounds like we all are being poisoned slowly lol...
