Help. I Am In Hell. Posted: 12-04-05 20:56pm
Hello everyone.
I really hope there is someone out there
that can help me because I dont seem to be
getting any better,i am 33 ,male and I
used to be an outgoing confindent guy that
always bounced back from most
things...Until now.
It all started about three months ago on
holiday ,i was out in the sun too long and
got dehydrated ok fine,i went through a
couple of days feeling off then felt
better ,everything back to normal.
We returned back home then I started to
get palpations ,groggy head,, eyes wont
focus properly ,pins and needles in my
hands and feet that feeling of impending
doom over me ,i was wondering what hell
was going so wrong.
So after a couple of "scares" where I
ended up in hospital trying to convince
them I had some heart problem or a brain
tumour all the tests came back normal?.
As time went on I was still experiencing
the occansional attack [panic] and had
the 24/7 heavy hungover head including the
symptons of being confused ,and my vision
blurred , my neck felt weak and the back
of my head has a tightness ,which I still
have today.
Do I have a tumour ??Am I going mad ??,i
am set to see my doctor that mentioned
none of the possibilities that I have seen
on this anxiety forum .
I sit here today not able to work
wondering what if im like this for years
to come??,how am I going to overcome it
?,how much fight do I have left in my body
?.Is there anybody out there that can help
me?
If this is anxeity I sure did take it for
granted before when people talked about
it.
If anybody out there knows something I
dont ,please drop me a line .
From sad kiwi.

I am not sure if this is certain because I
dont really kno what other symptoms you
have but my mother had panic attacks for 6
years, they just took her off her
medications because it was making her
suicidle, and she stopped having her panic
attacks, but whatever happens dont get
down on yourself that is the worse thing
to do, if you need anything else just let
me kno! I will to tell you any
information that I have!

Hi Sad Kiwi Posted: 12-05-05 01:29am
It sure does sound like anxiety to me.
Mine came from out of nowhere too and I
went to 4 differant doctors and they all
did heaps of tests and they all came back
normal - I even went to 3 cardiologist
because I didn't beleive them! I started
looking up anxiety and stress symptoms and
they sounded like all or most of mine. I
went the the er 3 times and in the end I
asked the doctor to give me medication so
that I can get through each day. I went
on xanax for 4 months. While on it I
researched anxiety, read books and went on
the internet, bought programs and then
tried to put them all into practise!
Today I am off me medication and on herbal
medicines - like camamile tea, herbal
stress tables (tang kuei) etc. I listen
to relaxation music each night and
exercise etc. I also have a program by
lucinda bassett that I am working through.
She explains what her anxiety was like
and how she overcome it! You can
overcome it.
I would say that I am 95% cured - I still
get a bit of blurred vision, chest pain
and achey body - but I know why now and I
know it is not going to hurt me! It
never will.
If you need to talk more please message
me, and keep reading this forum as when
you realise that you are not the only one
it makes it so much easier

Hi - it sounds really simple and
inneffectual but have you tried breathing
exercises? It seems your symstems out of
kilter and unbalanced and that's
perpetuating the attacks. The breathing
exercises won't help during an attack
(although i'm sure you've been told that
breathing into a paper bag can alleviate
the absolute worst of symtoms)
you can find loads of information on the
web about how to breath normally and
slowly - you need to get more carbon
dioxide back into your system as at the
moment without you realising it and even
when you're not having an attack you're
probably breathing erratically and taking
in too much oxygen. You have to practice
the exercises at least 12 - 20 times a day
(at times when your more calm) - it takes
time but gradually without realising it
you'll be breathing in a more calm state
and you'll hopefully notice and
alleviation of symptoms - plug at it
though as it takes practice and time and
the results aren't particularly
significant to begin with but after a
while symptoms start miraculously
disappearing - believe me because i've
tried it and it works!!!

Thanks Guys For the Reply Posted: 12-05-05 16:56pm
Went to the doctors today he said to carry
on taking the meds ,if I am not better in
two months he will try something else?.
I feel a bit better knowing that I am not
going to die from some horrible disease or
something , I am going to try and relax a
bit more and not worry so much .
Heres to the next couple of days watch
this space!

Yup, breathing properly cured me too, even
cured me of lifelong bronchitis.
Actually learned it from reading an
american cancer society brochure about how
emphysema and bronchitis are caused my not
expelling enough air from the lungs.
Once I practiced controlled
breathing...Mostly exhaling slowly...I
know how to relax myself so quickly now.
I learned this technique 7 years ago and
it has changed my life...Quite literally!
I'm 46 years old, wish I had learned it
as a child.

This is almost exactly how my hypochondria
started six years ago, I thought I was
having a heart attack! I wasnt, it is
just your muscles in your chest
contracting because you are too tense. It
can takes weeks/months to sort out but it
does pass if you learn to relax and take
excercise. Headaches followed because of
the stress I put myself under, and then
ofcourse I thought I had a tumour, . I
didnt, the build up can take weeks/months
to go away aswell, but it is all muscular
tension.
I cant guarentee anything of course, but
generally speaking, ecg's are extremely
specific and reliable, and if you have
seen that many docs you can rest at ease,
the more you worry about it, the worse it
gets and the longer it will last.
