Hi am 21 years old and I have cerebral palsy. I will get my permit to see if I am able to drive. Just to get my permit is like 40 dollars then I need to take like a 80 hours class just to see if I can even or not if I can drive. My left arm is little worse then my right arm I have some control over my muscles but not 100%. That is same with my legs. I walk independently with no walking or anything like that. I just would like to drive around my town and to my college which is about 14 miles away. The roads are two lanes. Not like the highways or the express ways. I can drive things like go-carts with no problem.

Does anybody know what kinds of adaptation people can do to vehicles so people like me is able to drive.

thank you

It would depend on how severe your cerebral palsy is. I am a Spastic dipligia and have been driving for the last 13 years. Since my 18th birthday (18 is the legal driving age where I come from). You will find that driving an automatic car as opossed to a manual will most likely be easier.

If you need special adaptation of the vehicle, that can also certainly be done.

Hope that helps
