Q: Urine Test Said Pregnant, Other Test Said No.

My period lasted almost 10 days. I went to the doctor to see if anything was wrong. A urine test said pregnant. I said no way. I was sent to a woman's clinic and an internal exam showed I was not pregnant but a blood test was ordered which I take next week. What's going on here? Anyone know?

I think it's pretty rare to get a false positive pg test, but it can happen. And if you had an internal exam which said you weren't then I think that would be right. But a blood test should tell you for sure whether you are or not. But like fatfamily asked is there a possibily that you could be pregnant?

I was 5 weeks pregnant with my now 20 year old. Did preg test, neg, did preg at dr, neg, pelvic exam neg. They gave me shot to start my period, hadnt had one in 3 months. 2 weeks later went back, no bleeding form the shot, I was 7 weeks preg. Did urine test and pelvic, "yes you are 7 weeks."

I'm not sure what is happening. I started my period like normal, then it extended for almost 11 days. Three days after it stopped I was at the doctor's office to find out why it lasted as long as it did. Then the urine test said pregnant. He sent me to a woman's clinic the next moring. I was examend internally and given a pap smear. The doctor said that he saw no signs or indications that I was pregnant. Blood test is tomorrow. I don't want to be pregnant and wonder how one could receive a positive right after a period?

Negative Hpt, Period, Positive Hpt
It sounds like you had an early miscarriage. This is very common. You may have used a hpt that requires a high level of hcg and that's why it was negative at home but the doctor's office may have used a different test requiring less hcg. Your body only produces hcg when you are pg. The 11 day period (if this is unusually long for you) was most likely a miscarriage. I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks and my period lasted 7 days (i usually have a 3 or 4 day period). Just remember that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, maybe even more because some (like yours, if that's what it was) don't even get to register on a hpt. I hope this helps you out a little. Don't feel too bad, if it was a miscarriage it probably had nothing to do with you, but more likely a defect in either the egg or sperm. Good luck!
