Hello,
i am a single mother of an eight month old baby girl.I am a bit worried about something o have noticed and I wanted some advice.
I know that babies discover bits of their bodies at different ages but just recently, aboutt he last week I have noticed that when I take my babys nappy off she puts her hands on her vagina, she also feels her tummy button to,but the touching down there concerns me a bit? Should I be concenrned? Any advice would be greatly appreaciated.

No need to be worried... All babies explore their bodies. It's very normal.

All babies do this. It's normal, and there is nothing sexual about it: it must feel funny without a diaper on when it's there all the time and they think it must be part of their bodies. What I have done with all my children is gently move their hands away from the diaper area when I am changing them. You can even say a soft no, and talk to her about how "we don't put our hands down there". It helps them keep their hands away from there for later, more complicated issues, and keeps them from contracting illnesses from touching areas which happen to be sometimes pretty smelly and nasty!
