Q: Just One Question On Accutane...

This wednesday I have another visit to the dermatologist. I went the summer that just passed and I went on antibiotics and topical creams. (adaferin and some benzoyl something..) anyway, the creams severely irritated my skin, and made the acne come on even stronger. However, I did notice that when I stopped using them, the acne became a lot lighter. I still do have acne, and it's spreading to my neck now. So i've decided to go on accutane. I just have one question: the booklet says that during treatment the acne gets worse, I know it's part of the process, but how much worse does it get? I mean will it be like woah or just "ok, I can handle that" ???

Thanks
-ed

I think you will find answers to most questions on the side effects of roaccutane at the link below:

as I understand the situation many patients have an initial significant increase in their acne.

Quick Platinum-
I had a friend that had accutane and the acne did get very bad for awhile. I mean really bad. Like, it was no longer a large amount of acne on her face, it covered her face, neck, chest, and back. Eventually, the acne settled down, but she now has life-long scars. She regrets it , I think. That does not mean that it would not be a good decision for you. Weigh the consequences.

Hope I helped,
marissa
