Q: 5 Year Old Has Bowel Probs Help

Ever since my daughter was a baby she's had bowel problems. The doctors put her on alimentum formula because when she would go to the bathroom it was so hard and large she would scream from the pain and sometimes it would even tear her. After off the formula(which did help) the doctors told me to give her apple juice and fiber. She has 1-2 lasses of apple juice a day and I make sure she gets at least 10 grams of fiber (was told that's how much a 5 year old needs). If she does not have apple juice one day she will get these hard very large bowels. I feel so bad for her because she still cries when she has this problem cause it hurts and she tells me that her stomach hurts almost every day. She sometimes will try not to go for fear it will be (what she calls) "the hard poops". Does anyone have any idea or suggestions for what I can do to help her. Drs keep saying juice and fiber.

Thanks
