:? Hi im 17 years old 1st year college..I just need some information about what is happening to me coz my body is very thin...But although im thin,, I eat a lot than anyone I know especially to those who are fatter than me..My suspicions are that coz I grow tall very fast or coz I dont get much rest coz I sleep late then wake up at 6 of the morning to go to school..Another suspicions of mine is that because of what they call metabolism...But I dont have much knowledge about this metabolism thing....I also play basketball which I think is a good thing coz its an exercise. But a thing is I have high resistance to diseases coz I dont get sick very much...Are there anyone who can maybe give some clear answers and pls provide solutions thanks guys... :p

It's your metabolism.

"basal metabolic rate (bmr), is the rate of metabolism when an individual is at rest in a warm environment and is in the post absorptive state, and has not eaten for at least 12 hours. The release of energy in this state is only sufficient for the vital organs such as the heart, lungs, nervous system, and kidneys. Bmr decreases with age and with the loss of lean body mass. Regular cardiovascular exercise can increase bmr. Other factors can also affect bmr, such as illness, environmental temperature, and stress levels."

the older you get the more your metabolism will slow. But while you're young, your metabolism is still very fast.

Do you exercise a lot? Cutting back on exercising will slow your metabolism a little and thus help you to gain some weight. You might also eat a little more, (fattier foods) but you already said you eat a lot so I don't know how much that would help. There really isn't much you can do; it's just something that comes with time...

You could try a weight gainer formulae. No matter how fast your metabolism that should do the trick.

When he said weight gainer he is talking about a powder you mix mix with milk to drink and it bulks you up. It adds mass to your body basically. You can get it at nutritional or suppliment stores. If those types of places are hard to come by in the philipines, you might try searching online. I would have to say that it would be cheaper and better for your body to try gaining weight by increasing your starches. These are foods with a lot of bread, sugar, noodles, just to name a few.

Believe me, I know what he's taking about, and I know people who have had major problems as a result of taking such products; I highly recommend against them.
