Tried smoothbeam. First treatment. I'm
using it for scars but haven't noticed any
adverse effects. I'll let you know. It
takes a few treatments to start noticing
anything tangible

Re: Smoothbeam Laser - I Tried It Posted: 11-24-04 11:58am
Hello all,
my name is jessica and i'm 24 years old,
have had moderate but pesky acne since I
was 11. I bought a package of smoothbeam
treatments + clear light for 650$ from the
vein clinic in jacksonville, fl. I was
told that I was getting a "great deal"
since I was getting the treatments for
half price, with the individual sessions
costing me 150$ per smoothbeam treatment
(there were 6 of them in all, normally
300$ apiece is what I was told.) there
were two clearlight treatments included in
the package.
After 6 months of smoothbeam treatments, I
did not see any results. I was unhappy,
and had to speak to the manager to get
anywhere, since the esthetician was very
rude and told me that it was probably
because of my hormones that I didn't get
any results from the treatments, not
because the treatmtents didn't work. I
had been promised initially that I would
have a good percentage of my skin clear up
after the treatments.
The manager offered me three additional
smoothbeam treatments for free, saying
that I should see additional results with
three more treatments. I accepted, and
then had the 3 add'l treatments. Still
saw no results. The smoothbeam
treatments are unbelievably painful, by
the way. I had to take a xanax that I
got from a friend before I could go,
because the pain was intolerable
otherwise. It's like being stung by a
bee repeatedly all over your face for 15
minutes.
All in all, I wasted a lot of money and a
good amount of time trying to get results
from this new treatment. I've tried about
every prescription medicine from the
dermatologist, and tried to talk him into
prescribing me accutane, but was told that
it's only temporarily effective in female
adults. I've been trying to do research
on this but can't find much information.
I was told that it would work for a few
months, then stop as soon as I stopped
taking the medicine.
My dermatologist told me that some people
just don't get any results from the
smoothbeam. I didn't see any reduction
in my acne, or any smoothing of my skin.
I would personally advise people to save
their money because the treatments didn't
do anything for me. The clinic I went
to, the vein clinic in jacksonville, is
also not a good place to get treatment for
your skin. To be fair, I don't know if
other people besides me would get results
from this treatment, since I don't know
anyone else who has tried it. I do know
that the vein clinic doesn't have any
before and after photos of successful
patients who used the therapy, just a
generic pamphlet featuring 15 year old
kids who have never had a pimple in their
life (like the clearasil commercials.) if
anyone has any questions they can feel
free to email me at jess
icastuart24@aol.Com. Thanks for
reading this.

Hello,
i posted about the smoothbeam treatments
under jessicastuart24. I don't think I
mentioned much about this but the
"package" I got also included two of the
clear light treatments, which of course
did absolutely nothing for me.
I am extremely interested to hear about
your experience, if I could, with the blue
light treatments. I actually think that
before I got the smoothbeam treatments and
the clear light, that my skin was better
than it is now, and I can prove it with
the same photos I made them take of me at
the esthetician's office. They also
neglected to have me sign some form that
stated that I understood that the
procedures were voluntary and that I
understood that I may or may not get
results (this is part of the reason why I
ended up getting 3 free smoothbeams after
no results w/the first 6.)
did you successfully sue the center, and
if so, what was the result? My mom's a
lawyer, so if there is a case of action
that you brought, I would be very
interested to hear more, if you wouldn't
mind. I have felt so ripped off and
aggravated because my skin just keeps
breakout out even today, and they were so
rude the entire time I was going in for
help. Thanks for any info you can
provide.
Sincerely,
jess

I'm glad I came across this site. I was
feeling bad thinking I wasted my money on
blu light (a photoclearing system
mentioned in some of the replies, I
believe "clearbeam" is another brand name)
and that I should have waited for
"smoothbeam" to be available in my area.
After spending a thousand+ dollars on blu
light my skin has been no better. Some
months its been worse. Oh well, i'm not
sure I ever thought it would work. It was
really just a last ditch effort before
trying accutane. I still haven't done
accutane. I don't have insurance and I
know a lot of dermatologists won't
prescribe it anymore. Someone mentioned
roaccutane? What is that? Is it a
different brand name of accutane? Same
stuff different name? Or does it work
differently? Could you please reply.
Thanks.

I have had smoothbeam at WellMedica with
Dr. Ali who was very up front about the
results with me. She told me that to see
full results of the smoothbeam laser would
take about 5 treatments and I would see
results in 6-12 months after my natural
collagen built back up. I also had a set
of chemical peels with my smoothbeam
treatments. I am done with my treatments
now and I can definitly see a huge
difference...you just have to be patient!
