Morning Sickness!!!!
Posted: 11-29-05 18:17pm

Hey everyone! I don't know what to do....I am 9 weeks and 2 days and I can not stop throwing up! I spoke with my Dr. Who laughed and said that's one of the many joys of expecting!!! Well, this is my first child and I was not expecting this! I knew I would be a little sick but no where near to what i'm feeling now! I'v tried ginger snaps, ginger ale, ginger tea, saltines, chicken broth...You name it i'v tried it and it just keeps coming back up! Last night I was in bed and suddenly had to vomit...I wasn't even able to make to the bathroom and wound up throwing up on the floor....Thank god we have hardwood! My hubby was very sweet and cleaned it up for me while I was in the shower, but he must think I am insane b/c all I could do was cry and cry. He sat in the bathroom telling me "its ok sweety i'm gonna be cleaning up a lot of messes soon".....And all I could manage to say between sobs was "i'm sick!!!!" my morning sickness also seems to hit me at night when I am trying to get some much needed sleep, so lately I have been grumpy and exhausted all day long. My mother seems to think that i'm exaggerating b/c "she was never that sick when she had us"........Well good for her!!! I'm sorry to be such a complainer but I am so ready to feel better......When will relief come???? I will be so thankful for any suggestion that yall can give!!!!

See if your doc will prescribe diclectin for you. That's what I wa son at the begining cause I was super sick too. Also carry life savers. I'm sure a pregnant woman invented their name.

Also, if you started taking prenatals already, they could cause nausea. You could try taking a different kind.

Thanks for the quick replies....I'll talk to my doc and see if maybe the prenatals are playing a factor. I can not wait untill this is over....I know my hubby will be glad too. Poor man probably feels like he's married to a vomit machine with multiple personalities. I actually just snapped at him for eating mcdonalds b/c the smell bothered me......Then I cried and said I want mc donalds too but i'll throw up!!!! Oh the joys of pregnancy!!!!

I Feel Your Pain

I know what you are going through. I went throught that for seven months with my pregnancy. I hated it and was in to see my ob/gyn once a week. He felt for me too. I would go in every monday to be hydrated in the er. Then see him on wed. To make sure all was well. I was admitted to the hospital for five weeks to be hydrated and fed via iv. I hated everything about it. We tried every prescription medicince we could and still the I was sick. About my seventh month things started to look up and I was on a medication used for chemo patient with severe nausea...But I also delivered that same month...Go figure. Good luck and god bless the rest of your journey.

Ps I became so depressed over the "starvation" and constant sickness that my ob/gyn put me on an antidepressant at about 4 months.

Oh grace that's aweful! I can not even begin to imagine having to deal with that for so long. Thankfully today has been a good day...I haven't been as sick but unfortunately it seems to kick in the most at night time. They really should change the name to "all day long especially when you smell something sickness".

I got this dreadful nausea too, I think I got it because I had twins though, because I was told the hormonne levels are higher with twins, so maybe your in for a suprise! Who knows!
The doctor can prescribe lots of anti-nausea medicines that worked for me such as cyclazine and metoclopramide and they can give you them in an injection.
I was told that ginger can help with the nausea and that an old sailor trick for sea- sickness was to tie an elastic band around your wrist as theres a pressure point there. None of this worked for me but if it works for anyone else then great.
All the best.

Usually morning sickness disappears around 12 - 15 weeks, but with my first pregnancy I had all day sickness for the entire 9 months. Then with my next 2 babies, I didn't vomit 1 time. Go figure. I am currently preg with baby #4 & I have not had any sickness thus far (i'm due 7-27-06). Every woman is different, & every pregnancy is different. I sure hope relief comes for you:)!! Wish I could make it go away!

1)saltines first thing in the morning
2)peppermint
3)spearmint
4)licorice--black
5)preggy pops
6)gingerale
7)most hard candies actually--gum, chew gum
8)try not to be empty ever--eat often, little at a time.

9)snack often
10)empty stomach mixed with hormones causes great morning sickness.

11)try childrens vitamins with dr approval, prenatal especially in the am causes morning sickness
12)coffee is bad for morning sickness, also tea in the am is bad(actually they say dont do coffe or tea, caffeine bad)

Thanks so much for all the suggestions! For some odd reason I did not feel sick all day yesterday, but I was thinking that it would catch up with me last night.......It never did! I got a wonderful night's sleep and woke up this morning feeling good and rested. So far I haven't had any problems today, even when I walked past someone who was smoking, which made me sick a few days ago. It's funny how certain things that never bothered you before suddenly become so revolting. I never particularly enjoyed being around smoke, but I was never sickened by it untill recently. I certainly hope that I can continue feeling good, but should I be concerned or just consider my self lucky?

I would concider it luck!!! And I hope mine does not get any worse - I just get queezy not sick, but I was in the bathroom most of my preg. With my son. People would laugh at me, because in public I would actually have to back into a stall - if I even saw the toilet, I would get sick (really lol!!!) pepermint seemed to help a little - the little red and white ones you usally get at resturaunts.

Good luck!!

Michelle
(sorry for the spelling, I prob. Should stop typing that, but I do feel bad that i'm 28 and can't spell better than my 7year old)
